with regards his 'off field' antics, there are two sides to every story.
.

The side that suggests he's deeply unpleasant seems more robust and better-evidenced than any side to the contrary - which doesn't seem to have been shared even by the hyperactive agent who is planting all these stories.

As much as I don't condone any of his past transgressions, is there sometimes not a place for a bit of a c*** in the side to give it that edge? John Terry, Roy Keane, Arsenal in the early 90s etc. I know we've got some serious units with presence, and moussa likes an eye gouge as much as the rest of them, but I feel like there's always room for 1 mentalist. Ying and Yang etc

Different types of twats, in fairness.

There have been times over the years where I think we could have really benefited from having a total bastard in the team, in the mould of Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira.

Being a homophobic bell end who gets sent to prison for assaulting police officers doesn't automatically put you in the same league as those sorts of players, who for all their faults were absolute quality and knew how to command authority both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Aurier doesn't have that presence on the pitch. He's just a wanker.

Haha. Just me then! To be honest, none of us really know what the values of any of the players really are - he just seems to be a bit more public. No point kidding ourselves they are all decent, open minded and peace loving individuals deep down. We just don't know.

You're right, if any of our players are low-key racists or homophobes then we're never going to know unless they start shouting about it.

But on the off chance they do start shouting about it, then I no longer deem them fit to wear the shirt.

True, but he called his manager a faggot and assaulted a policeman. Fuck having my football club pay someone like him millions of pounds.

Completely respect and admire your values and agree @freeeki . Lots of shades of grey though.
As an example, if we found out Hugo or Harry had once attended an anti Islamic / anti gay rights protest would we be as quick to kick them out?

I think we would, yes.

And even if not, if we'd found out that was their sort of thing prior to them joining the club, they probably wouldn't have been signed in the first place.

well yeah, what I was suggesting in my all too brief post was that maybe has has had the ignorance educated from his empty head, or maybe some one slapped him silly and told him to wake up to himself

either way he may be a better person for it

And if that's the case, all we have to contend with now is the fact he's not as good as Trippier.

This is a joke right? I see the emoji but not sure if you're laughing because you're being facetious or because you think he is not as good and it's an additional hurdle.

Would very much rather this sort of character isn't at Spurs.

For one thing I like that our players by and large aren't complete dickheads. It makes me feel good about supporting the club that we haven't had people like John Terry involved and I like to be proud of the players I support.

But secondly, anyone who is homophobic (or says the sort of homophobic things he said) is, by definition, a complete moron, and I don't think we need that level of stupid involved at Spurs.

I'm all for second chances and maybe he's a reformed character, but let's face it his 'incidents' were hardly a long time ago so it wouldn't have given him much time to 'reform'.

I actually think that our current squad is one of the cleanest in the prem. Or at least it seems that way. Aurier just seems totally out of character.

Tottenham Hotspur lead the race for Serge Aurier

L’Équipe report today that Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur lead the race to sign Ivorian international right-back Serge Aurier.

Daniel Levy has reached a deal with the player’s entourage for a 5-year, lucrative contract, the finer details need to be fleshed out, but an agreement has been reached at 95% between the two parties.

Once a provisional contract has been totally tied up, Tottenham will open negotiations with PSG, who want around €25m for the player.

Chelsea have also approached the player’s people, with Antonio Conte a fan. The Premier League champions have not gone any further than an enquiry at this stage.

Contacts with Manchester United are a bit less concrete. That does not mean to say that the Red Devils have not informed PSG of their interest in the Ivorian, but that any deal with Manchester United is more complicated: many intermediaries are seeking to get involved in a potential deal like this, not least Mino Raiola.

In Italy, Serge Aurier has provisional contract agreements with Inter Milan and Juventus.

Juve do not have room for another non-EU player, and therefore have made the following proposal: to purchase Aurier now before loaning him out until January, which is something that the player is not particularly interested in.

Inter Milan are not very liquid at the moment, and had been hoping to do an exchange with PSG for Joao Mario, something that Les Parisiens rebuffed fairly quickly.

€25m is the price, PSG must rid of Aurier soon, it is a top priority of theirs.

The player’s priority is the Premier League, but no English side will bite until his court case situation is cleared up. Tick tock.
