Set to announce his retirement due to heart issues.

Incredible shame, but I guess at his age and with everything he’s achieved, it isn’t worth risking jeopardising his health for a couple more years playing time.

Heart issues due to COVID or something else? Either way so tragic but glad he's still alive and can move forward.

There seems to be more players (and sportspeople generally) being identified as at risk from heart problems. I wonder whether there is a heightened risk in modern sport from pushing the body ever harder to gain that physical edge compared to 'olden days' sport, or whether it's because of improved medical techniques simply picking more cases up.

If it's the second it does make you consider how many other top level sportspeople went through their whole career at risk without knowing it, and were lucky not to have been affected.

Yeah I have wondered this too. I honestly think it’s a combination of both.

Sad to read this.

Was an unbelievable player for City. He tormented us at times.

You could see last season his legs were going but thought he might have done ok at Barca.

Up there as one of my favourite modern day strikers.

No ego about him, worked tirelessly for his team, intelligence, scored all types of goals & as far as I could tell, never even complained when he wasn't being regularly selected.

Just one of those types of players you don't just like, but can appreciate for the quality he possessed.

Wish him nothing but the best & hope he finds happiness after football.

A lot of people will say that goal against qpr was his most memorable moment. But I love this one most.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a link to the caffeine energy drinks a lot of top teams seem to use.

If there isn't one already, there should be a statue to the little fella outside the Etihad. He's their leading goalscorer of all time after all. I just hope he's able to live his life after football keeping himself in good health.

Taking a sidestep slightly from aguero but sheffield united player fleck needed urgent medical assistance on the field of play last night.
Its happening far far more frequently now, yet ZERO questions being asked as to why?

Nothing to see here of course.

If I speak I’m in big trouble.

Good questions. Does doping need to be looked at as a possible contributor?

Could be, but personally think it could be to do with how much players are pushed physically these days. Expected to go full pelt in training and games, and playing almost non stop.

There is too much football being played.
