http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...-meet-forwards-25m-buyout-clause-9927518.html

A man of FIFA notoriety because of his rather over average pace and why many know him.

But his record in the Russian league, away from silly video games (its not silly really-I love FIFA), is also impressive.

Could add a threat in behind that we don't currently have and the fact that as the article highlights he is retired from Intl football means that the AFCON won't affect him.

On the other hand his Intl record is poor, which may highlight that he has not done it in on the big stage-or in a better league than the Swiss/Russian ones and therefore a 25million asking price could be deemed as very steep. But he has grabbed goals in the Champs league as well...

61 goals in 94 appearances in the Russian league. Not bad.

Seems like another Wagner Love to me. Great record in the Russian league but possibly has spent too long there to be able to make the step up.

£25m buy out clause? Can't see us taking the risk. For that amount you might as well bid £25-30m for Benteke or Bony.

Bony I agree with.

Wouldnt want to spend 25 million on Benteke though.

If Doumbia was in the 15 million mark then I think it would definitely be worth considering, but I agree that 25 million is a huge risk for a mid 20s player in the Russian league.

Scored 2 against City last month, if that helps.

Looks to be a good player when against the more 'elite' european sides

He absolutely beasted the City defence in their CL games, but then again those might have been shop window games for him where he was extra motivated - hard to tell with these things.

He's outscoring Hulk I think, and we wouldn't turn our noses up at him for the same price that's quoted for Doumbia, would we?

Hulk doesn't usually play in the middle for Zenit. I think he's one of the most overrated players around although Andre seems to love him!

I've seen it a hundred times where a player puts on a storming performance against a PL club hoping to attract a move and when he gets a nice fat contract he's more interested in shopping down the west end than putting in a shift every weekend.

If we are interested in Bony, then I don't understand why we wouldn't be in Doumbia. Both bring the same attributes, both are the same age.

Please PLEASE make this happen.

I have no idea who he is but I really really want Pleat to try and commentate on Doumbia and Dembele.

The ruble has fallen 60% in the last year. Surely there's some players in the Russian League who were smart enough to get their contracts written to be paid in dollars or pounds or euros, and clubs will be desperate to get rid of them this window. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few big names leaving Russian clubs in January.

70ish roubles to a $ at the moment, and you're right-many International players had their large contracts written up in a different currency so there could be truth in some of the bigger stars being available.

Agree. He is far from MARVELlous. Both a pun and the fucking truth.
There really should be a positive Doh-rating, as in "Doh, that is the lamest joke I've read in a while, but I like it".
Had to give a "funny" instead.

As for Doumbia, I'm all for it. We really need some pace up front, and this guy brings buckets of it.

Watched Doumbia since he played for Young Boys...such a good player. Would love for this to happen, I've always been baffled as to how no big club took a chance on him. As clinical as it gets but strong and fast and technically good enough to be a complete forward.
