I've been saying for years that our home support makes me not want to go to games, so I can only imagine how bad it can feel playing in front of those people.

An example from home, my local team Brann in Norway were down in the shit, getting 6-7000 at most and in the relegation zone. A supporter campaign is set up to get people to come and get behind the team. Hey presto, gates of 13000+ and loads of noise, chants and encouragement and the team gets their act together and starts to win.

Supporters really can make the difference, and I believe they can in the PL just as well as they can in Norway.

Lot of rubbish being spouted above. Do you support the club or the players? Half those players wont be here in five years, so the way they're playing shouldn't affect whether you're singing or not. You should sing because you love the club. I think this is a problem with English football fans/chants in general, too many songs are based around players and not around the club. Besides, do people not think that the players might play better if their morale is being boosted by the fans and they feel like they've got 34,000 people behind them? The stadium needs an 1882 dedicated block for sure.

Why do people go to games? Seriously? Why not watch it on a stream or tv if you just want to see the football? The main attraction for me is to go and actually enjoy myself, crazy I know. So we can either sit and moan and watch crap football or we can enjoy ourselfs while watching crap football.

What was pissing me off more than anything was people cheering the Man Utd score on the jumbotron.

We're 1 nil down at home to West Brom with 5 mins to go and people are making more noise for the score of another game than our own team. Pathetic.

How can we be expected to sing and send tweets at the same time? Some people on here just don't use their brains.

Middle aged or middle class
The manager will need 2 transfer windows to shape his team so get used to it.
If levy backs him.

1. Should never boo your club, the relationship between club and supporter is sacred, no different than relationship between sibling, child, spouse, or friend. You would never boo any of those would you? Of course not.
2. Singing should not be reflective of teams performance, yes, you sing for the players to a certain extent, and may seem easier to sing when team is playing well, but in the end you are singing for the badge. With that said, the players have their job, and supporters have theirs: unwavering support...all we can do as supporters is support, if you can't do your job you have no right to complain about a player not doing theirs. Love the shirt..In Poch we trust. COYS

The home support has a direct relationship with how the team plays. When we play well against a big team, or in an important game, the place is rocking.

Its not quite that we only sing when we're winning, its more that we only sing when there's something good to sing about - 1-0 down to WBA and playing like a sack of shit, we dont seem too good at creating an atmosphere when the chips are down.

Just had a chat to my dad about it. He was saying that the inter home game was the best he's heard since the 84 cup final. Good old days under the lights hey :(

Football is a different animal now. The only people who can afford season tickets are middle aged professionals who just aren't that passionate.

WHL is full of ****s who believe that they are owed success.

It would help if the team played with an ounce of passion too.

It's the same fans who were cheering 3 years ago.

You wouldn't expect an audience to clap a shit comedian or terrible movie.

Maybe the support could be more enthusiastic but they've seen a great squad thrown away and countless managers come through the revolving door Levy built for them.

Ha ha! 15k new fans will make it worse of course. If we can't crank it up in a 36k stadium how do you thing it's going to go in a 55k stadium? Witness highbury v emirates
If the prices are lower it might help but we know that is never gonna happen. I remember a few years ago I was laughing at how the nomads were trying to get a campaign to get people singing. I thought "That will never happen at Spurs". Then hey presto 1882 popped up. I think it is embarrassing when you can't get your fans to sing for the team.

I posted this earlier today:

Just read this quote from Van Gaal talking about how he prepares his team for matches:

"I know everything about the team, about individuals, substitutes, what the atmosphere will be like in the stadium, how they take free-kicks, everything. My staff check all that out and then we send it to the players."

I'm sure every manager in the league will make the atmosphere in the stadium a major aspect of the preparation if their trips to White Hart Lane, i.e:

"The fans will turn on the team if they are not 2 goals up after 20 minutes, so just put a bit of early pressure on the team and their gobshite fans will do the rest."

I agree that the amposhere has deteriorated in recent times and the fans are too quick to turn on the team.

I'm just sick of these threads blaming the ST holders for the current state of the team. It's complete and utter bullshit.
