If we're unable to bring in any of our 1st choice targets then yes I would rather take a punt on a talented lower league striker and have 2 strikers instead of just one. Where did Vardy come from? you know, the top scorer in the Premiership. How about Bale, Walcott, Alli, Callum Wilson, Deeney? all came from lower league sides and have performed well to exceptional in the EPL.

Bale?

None from League 2. Those from League One- like Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alli- were teenagers with a lot of potential. This Roofe guy is older than Kane, he is 23, suggesting we should sign him based on one game is madness.

I didn't say based on one game, the lad has scored 15 goals so far this season. Washington plays in league one.

The problem with this is that Long would be a back plan because Levy has pissed off the Chairman at WBA, but he has also pissed off the Chairman of the club who own our back up plan. Anyone spot the theme?

Looks like an anti-Levy theme.....

I'm not anti Levy at all actually but he does have a tendency to rub a lot of his negotiating adversaries up the wrong way. It's something I think he could improve on a lot which would serve the club well in the long run.

Someone will be suggesting Ade Akinfenwa next, or Barry Corr from Cambridge (12 in 20 this season).

Congrats to Kemar for scoring 9 goals in 24 games in League 2, and congrats to Conor for scoring 10 goals in 24 games in League 1 at the incredibly young age(s) of 23.

I have nothing against signing players from the lower leagues, but only if they have been truly exceptional or clearly have a very high potential. Adam Armstrong, who is the top scorer in League 1, is 18. That's the sort of player we should be looking at.

If memory serves in Transfers Windows gone by there had been suggestions that Long was one of those players we watched on numerous occasions - mightn't be a bad shout at all for a work-horse of a player with a bit of physical presence too. Could definitely seem him in the number 9 role of Pochs system. Probably won't want to come and be second-fiddle to Kane with the Euros coming up for the Republic of Ireland

I'd take Shane Long all day long. Fast, Physical, doesn't stop running and would score quite a few goals with the right service.

I agree with the first bits, but he's not a goalscorer, his finishing has always been poor. He's the sort of player who makes others better though with his work-rate and pace.

Going to have to go against the consensus here and say that he is an awful footballer that just runs about a lot. Jermain Defoe shits all over him technically. Some of you lot could convince yourselves that re-signing Postiga would be a good move.

Annoying little fucker what's not to like?
Puts me in mind of Kevin Phillips, ok no superstar but will keep scoring any time any place anywhere against anybody.
Not sure this is for real but not a bad support option.
