Just scored a hat trick for me in FM against Millwall. Sign him up.
Millwall? Are we in League One??

saints fans seem to think he will fit in very well with Klopps playing style as he gives 100% for the full 90, never stops running and brings other players into the game... sounds like he is made for the high press and we could do a lot worse (I agree that I would like us to do a lot better but January isn't the best time and we need someone to let harry have a rest...)

But 95 career goals in 367 appearances - so just over 1 goal in 4 appearances and he's been consistently like that throughout his career.
So if he played striker we'd need to rely on the AM's to score the goals
Shane Long! Decent but I hope we have more ambition than decent, surely we have the funds to push the boat out if the right player is available. That said I'd take him if we can't get anyone better, lessons need to be learned from the last time we were in this position. Would love a big signing Lacazette, Embolo, Berahinho, but if they are not possible, Shane Long and Dembele would be much needed additions to the squad.
It's just occurred to me that you get more than your fair share of "winner" ratings because of your avatar. I do however agree with every word of your postAlthough I see your point and, to a degree, agree with you, Leicester City is a team made up of decent players.
What's that got to do with Long? Well, to quote Aristotle, the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. We could sign "a worldie" but he may not necessarily fit in with what Pochettino wants, or he may think he is 'the man' and is better than everyone else.
I really do understand why people aren't endeared by the thought of Shane Long playing in a Spurs kit, but, despite what they think of his ability, they surely can't deny that he epitomises everything Pochettino asks for from his players?
He may not be a perfect player, but he really is perfect for the system, and also has the experience that our squad is desperately lacking, and our captain believes we need.
Not perfect, practical !

I was coming around to the idea of him as back up but didn't realise he turns 29 two days from now. Thought more like 25/26. Wouldn't necessarily be a problem in and of itself but given the money Southampton would want (paid £12m for him less than 18 months ago) this does not make financial sense. Let Liverpool overload themselves with more even more forwards that they'll be wanting rid of a year from now
John Aldridge springs to mind...
this strikes me as a no-lose punt
£12m+ on a 29 year old backup does not seem like a no-lose punt to me. I agree with most of what you said but not at values being mentioned.
