Going to have to go against the consensus here and say that he is an awful footballer that just runs about a lot. Jermain Defoe shits all over him technically. Some of you lot could convince yourselves that re-signing Postiga would be a good move.
The same lot that convinced themselves that Gary hooper was good when we were linked with him a few seasons ago no doubt.

Not gonna happen in a million years with the injuries saints have to pelle and jay rod no way they gonna sell.

Like Southampton would even consider selling to us anyway.

Not a great striker but his workrate and ability to play across the front three would be a good option for a short term fix

Also probably the same lot that said Kane would make it. Some make it, some don't. Stop trying to make out you know better than anyone else.

No, the same lot who have spent years watching Shane Long, so are actually speaking from the perspective of knowing what he'd bring to the club if we were to buy him, which we probably won't for the very reason that @coy-spurs1882 mentioned on the previous page. Southampton will almost certainly not deal with us.

It's not even close to being comparable to Gary Hooper.

I wasn't trying to make out I know more than anyone else. I quite like Shane long. And I also said Kane would have a good season last year. So... Maybe I do know more than you. I take I you rate hooper still

I outright do know better than anybody that would take Shane Long. (tongue in cheek before this new weird gang of happy clappers jump on my dick)

I'll go one step further to my earlier post. Anybody that would take Shane Long epitomises why we've been stinkingly average for so long. There's a willing acceptance of mediocrity from a massive section of our fans that don't care who we sign as long as we sign someone. That leads to us signing shit like Saha and Nelsen and then a section of our fans blindly nodding in approval.

The only selling point for a player being "he's a bit busy and fast" when he's below average at every other aspect of the game is enough for me. Signing him would be a waste of time and money, he is not good enough for us - not even as a squad player.

The kind of player who seems like a good idea to sign at the time but inevitably as he misses easy chances fans will start to get frustrated with him and wonder why we bought him

This is how desperate some people have become because they are happy to see literally anyone sign for us to be backup to Kane, Shane fucking Long.

We should have bought Long when he was at Reading.....i have been a fan of his for ages, he isn't ever gonna be Messi, but a really good squad player imo
He is quick, scores goals.presses, can play any position in the front 3, proven prem player, always scores against the top teams so he ain't no mug... a very useful guy to have around ...do we think we will get better to be Kane's understudy?...

I would take him...but Soton won't sell to us i fear.

Long would be perfect for us as a back up to Kane very underrated and a good fit for our style. Very doubtful it would happen though for a number of reasons

Sorry but I can't quite believe what I'm reading here. If we ca#n't find better than Shane Long, we really are right up shit street.

I always say, the world is full of 'strikers' who don't score (enough) goals, and I'm afraid he is one of them, like Connor Wickham, Bafetemi Gomis, and Steven Fletcher for example. We want a young and hungry goalscorer, someone like the young lad I've been banging on about for a while, the lad from Fulham, Dembele. He's young, he's hungry, hes scoring goals although he's in a poor side, and he's going to be a free agent this summer. Please Tottenham, make it so.

Is a player top four standard? Yes we can pursue, no then we shouldn't, unless he has the potential to develop into a top four standard player.

Do you buy Lidl's and pretend it's Harrods.

We have to determine the quality and future quality, anything else drags us down.

I'm happy to follow Poch, the press will throw all sorts of rubbish our way. A goalscorer who doesn't score goals is not much use and scoring in the Championship and the Premier League are two different things, that has been proven many a time. Is Dembele the man? I don't know enough about him, but I think we know enough about Long to say no thanks. He'll work yes, but goals come first, work second. We need both, if he can't supply both he is second best and not good enough.

Congrats to Kemar for scoring 9 goals in 24 games in League 2, and congrats to Conor for scoring 10 goals in 24 games in League 1 at the incredibly young age(s) of 23.

I have nothing against signing players from the lower leagues, but only if they have been truly exceptional or clearly have a very high potential. Adam Armstrong, who is the top scorer in League 1, is 18. That's the sort of player we should be looking at.

If Newcastle go down he'll have the perfect step up season to the Championship...

He's literally a 1 in 4 striker. We want somebody that can come off the bench and score.

Like who?

Haha, don't try and @THFCSPURS19 me, and do that fucking lame thing of "oh you can't suggest anybody better, wot a bluddy cop out". Seemingly realistic strikers that we've been linked with and that I'd take ahead of Long:

  1. Inaki Williams (arguably realistic)
  2. Laurent Depoitre
  3. Saido Berahino
  4. Sandro
  5. Yedder (who we were linked with today)
  6. Dembele
  7. Berardi
  8. Embolo
  9. Baboucar
  10. Perez
I'd also take absolutely nobody ahead of him, because signing players like him is what got us into the problem a couple years ago of being lumbered with mediocre deadwood.
