I know it goes off topic a bit, but here in the States, we just eliminated grouping by School year and went to Birth year to align with the rest of the world supposedly. Probably the most ridiculous decision made by US Soccer in ages. If what is said here is correct, that the professional academies group by school year, then it is even more absurd for the US to do this.

:) :) :) :)

When kids leave school for the last time and join the Academy,,.., guess what, its the end of the school year (July), so the Academy year starts when the professional leagues start in Europe (mid August).

Once out of the Academy (2 years) the lads join the development squad (or u21's) whose season runs from August to August.

The funny thing is that the term 'u21' is defined by his age on the 1st January in the year the season begins.......so we almost operate a hybrid system.

Is he a striker or a midfielder?

The daily mail article describes him as a CM who can also play the 10 role.

The youngster has played in central midfield for the Vanarama National South side this season but can also play in the No 10 role.

I called him a "lad". Taking into account that I'm 40 & he's 17, I fail to see how it's even close to disrespectful to call him a lad?

No I meant the Daily Mail headline.

I get so bored of seeing people branding things as disrespectful or offensive when there's nothing remotely so

'It is understood the teenager will sign a professional contract but whether he is handed an immediate place in the first-team squad is unclear.

Tottenham staff may prefer to hand Tracey a position in the club’s development squad before promoting him ahead of next season.'

Er.... nah I don't really expect him to be starting against Leicester at the weekend...

Got a little bit of info on this one. My girlfriend went to uni with Shilow's cousin and that cousin has posted on FB tonight that Shilow could be signing for Spurs. He also said that his little bro is in our academy and that his aunt (possibly Shilow's mum I'm guessing) played for Spurs ladies so it seems that Spurs are a big part of their family. Although the cousin is a West Ham fan.....yikes. So it's not really any inside info about the deal actually being done but interesting all the same.

For what it's worth, I think his name is kinda cool.
