Cant remember the last time we scored directly from a free kick

No one seems able to deliver a decent corner.

Today all we did is float corners to the penalty spot, knowing how dodgy there goalkeeper is under the high ball its a joke.

Seriously this past a joke now.

Bored..Rant over

Completely agree. One thing that pissed me off, how the fuck was Modric able to continuously take our set pieces when they were consistently shit? Well annoying.

Long past a joke indeed. It's been going on for years now. Nothing ever seems to change. Why we can't at least try practising them is beyond me. We clearly never do. Two headed goals all season? Pathetic.

Fucking joke. How can someone who gets paid 50k+ not be able to take a corner. Dont tell me its a 'skill' or 'art'. Useless.

for corners we need to drill them in, just above the first guy and with alot of pace, because thats the thing that makes it hard to catch. no fucking float in and hope kaboul hits a free header.

for set piece we need to drill it fast and low. put it in between the 6 yrd box and defenders. its easier to score because it makes it awkward for the defenders and goal keepers.

how the fuck are these people paid so much but lack so many fundamental tactical skills?

Kaboul has taken 20 of those free kicks and only come close once.

Everytime we have a free kick in a dangerous position, there're about five of our players converging over the ball debating what to do. Don't they set these things out in training?

I can't see how they do.

Why does Modric take our corners when Bale and VDV are out, and not Benny. He has a great cross on him usually.

Completely agree, Modric, Bale, VDV, Kaboul. All rubbish. Time to let someone else, probably BAE, have a go or do some work on the training ground. I've seen enough of our setpieces to presume we dont do anything in preparation for them.

Whilst we can all joke about it to a certain extent, it is a fundamental aspect of any side that has aspirations of winning the league to be able to conjure up a fantastic set piece to separate a tight match.

We are so woeful offensively at set pieces it's not a laughing matter as we are not capitalising on what could potentially be another 5-10 goals a season by simply better coaching.

Have said this many times but part of the training program for the players designated to take corners and free-kicks is a bag of balls and just continually whip corners in an attempt to get them right in the danger area every time. It's the only way we will get better.

If needs be grab some of the academy lads to be defenders and attackers so we actually have players to aim at.

For free-kicks the same applies a bag of balls and take free-kicks from varying ranges to get a proper feel for it.

It's about building muscle memory so it becomes natural during the game and constant drills will generate results. The problem is too many players these days will prefer to fuck off straight after training rather than work on improving their game.

It's also about practice. We've all read stories about how the best in the business just keep going at it to perfect their technique.

It's one thing if your coaches are happy to just let you get on with playing five-a-sides and doing abit of stretching in training. But are any of the players going to take charge, recognise that there's something lacking in our set piece delivery, work on it, and step up?
