Sigurdsson - Does AVB see something special I can't?

Gylfi is a good player. He is never going to tear up the right back with pace but that never was his game.

He is also our best goal threat from midfield.

it was a very good goal indeed, but I still don't think he does enough to justify his almost complete ineffectiveness the other 99% of the time

It's pretty clear with the players we bought in the summer, he's not in AVB's future plans. There's even a possibility he'll be flogged in January with the Liverpool rumours persisting. On average Gylfi is not good enough for this club.

Goal-scoring midfielder. It's what he's always done. Play will not go through him, he will not dictate the tempo etc but he's a tidy player who can spot space and will get you his fair share of goals which is something you simply have to have from your midfielders if you want to achieve things over an entire season.

What else is there to see?

Top goalscorer this season for us. And all that in just 1% of the time? Imagine we could get him to play at 2% then!

How is our second top scorer in all competitions not good enough for this club? Until the other midfielders start chipping in with goals I would like to see Sig stay.

Sigurdsson is a good squad player but not really good enough to be a consistent starter if we want to be challenging at the top. I think everyone can pretty much agree on that point.

I was going to post this as a thread but no need.

I want to see him in a false 9, a la Muller for Bayern.

He has similar characteristics, except he's a poor man's version.

Still, it would be an interesting experiment.

He hasn't got the pace for LWF, he hasn't got the athelticism and discipline for CM and he hasn't got the guile for ACM.

Up-front would be very interesting to see, could fail or could work very well.

Was about to say something similar. I really don't know what his position is. One thing, he's certainly got an eye for a goal. A special finish last night.
