Yep. Spoke to my other half last night (he's going to post the joke on his Everton forum), only played a handfull of games for them apparently. Come on as sub, they were getting beat 2-0 & he came on & scored the winner.

Done a bit of googling.

Mr Trebilcock was born in Cornwall, which abounds with
"Tre" place names.

I remember 'cos of the old player cards from PG tips.

I think he had a silent half cock, ie his name was pronounced

"Treh-Bill-Co"

As another aside to this story the Arsenal player
Tony Woodcock was known by Spurs fans as Tony Timberprick.

I remember the 66 FA Cup final vividly (Toffees v Wed) - I think Temple scored the winner from a bad mistake fram a Wed defendr - I remember Greavesie has tipped Wednesday to win in his Cup Final preview in either Titbits/Reveille

I thought Trebilcock was white? maybe he was mixed race?

Ha ha these are great.

I used to sit next to a guy in the East lower who was obsessed with offside decisions and would stand up about 40 times a match to scream "OFFSIDE" at the linesman, regardless of whether anyone was actually offside or not. He used to go mental when opposition players stole a few yards at throw-ins too. When he wasn't doing that he was shouting "IVERSEN YOU'RE USELESS!" :bang:

I sat in front of another funny guy at the home match V PSV last season - just after Gomes had stoppped the match so that Jenas could get treatment (after which he was stretchered off) the game restarted, this guy waited about 3 mins and then stood up and screamed "GOMES YOU'RE A WANKER!" Totally mystifying.

Whenever i go to the lane i always seem to get a wrong un sitting next to me. Against united a couple of years ago me and mate had 2 blokes behind shouting "put a bullet in his head" everytime Ronaldo got the ball!

Then against PSV this season i had some dutch fella sitting next to me who kept shitting and then shouting as loud as he can that he wasnt him but one of my mates. It was quite funny watching my mate going red saying it wasnt him but the fella stunk the whole block out with his rank arse.

I suppose its the same at every ground though i go to the MK Dons quite a bit and always sit the behind the away bench and always behind a northern fella that shouts "should have gone to optical express" at the ref. I havent told him its specsavers as i am too busy pissing myself looking on the faces of players on the bench!!

Cheers for the pic Dougal :) - and hi TCO :) - this forum isn't probably the best place for a detailed discussion of what constitutes 'being black' - but I guess he isn't white - but at least I know why I don't remember him being black. As a youngster watching a rubbish ole black and white TV in the 60s I doubt Trebilcock's 'blackness' would have come through that much.

I also don't remember any fuss being made at the time that he was the first black scorer in an FA Cup Final, whereas the previous year (from memory) there was a massive fuss about Albert Johannsen (sp?) being the first black player in FA Cup final. And there was no doubting he was black, even on our rubbish ole TV :)
