The thing is he's just going to do what a lot of ex players do and go back to his old clubs to get a few players. Just wait, next week he'll be on the phone to Tottenham.... Actually that won't work after the way he left us. So he'll give Arsenal a call instead....but he lied to them when he left as well....so Portsmouth... didn't he sue them while they were bankrupt? Probably not going to get any favours there then. Notts County? No, he walked out on them three days after his debut. He should be ok with Newcastle though. All he has to do is rely on Mike Ashleys kind and generous nature to provide him with a few cheap players to help him climb up the table. He's screwed isn't he!?!

He seems to think simply being a former player - a very talented former player - should be enough for people to employ him to manage current players.

He's more bothered about the colour of his skin and blames it for more than anyone else on earth.

I’ve quoted only parts of your post.

His argument, and I think it’s fair, is that Lampard and Gerard both landed high profile jobs with the same lack of experience.

Is there a What Macclesfield fans are saying about Sol “one of the greatest players in the world” Campbell yet?

Or maybe a Let’s All Laugh At SC

His argument, and I think it’s fair, is that Lampard and Gerard both landed high profile jobs with the same lack of experience.

But there are many other factors it could involve, a huge one being that neither of them go around telling everyone how great they are and acting like such fancy-pants. Add on top of that his history of ditching contracts and general bridge burning (Lying to Spurs about re-signing, lying to the Woolwich about going overseas, sueing Pompey for image rights when they were on the verge of bankruptcy and he was flush as fuck, signing a huge contract with Notts County then ditching on them in a heartbeat, this list could go on a while) he presents a much higher risk to the club and it's image than either Lampard or Gerard, even if you do count the shitty marks on their own report cards.

There's the marketability element too - you could sell merchandise on Lampard or Gerard but Campbell is from a different era, which also impacts the relevancy of his "superior" knowledge.

Yes, the boards he's come up for jobs at might have decided they didn't want a black guy in charge, but there are a ton of red flags that would go against him if I had to pick. To declare it's racist and no other reason doesn't necessarily make it so.

I can imagine there will be a queue stretching from Hackney all the way to Macclesfield of level 2, 3 and 4 coaches wanting to work with Mr Campbell....

Figured I'd take a look at what the other team's fans think of the situation - from Red Cafe user UnrelatedPsuedo;

But other than that, no-one cares. RAWK, Woolwich Mania, both Pompey forums (so, about seven posters total, but still), KUMB, not a singular shit reserved for a guy who, according to his own hype, is one of the best managerial minds to not be given a chance.

Absolute weapon of the highest order, love it lol!

"Sol Campbell has sensationally walked out at half time in his first match as Macclesfield Town manager, with his team 5-0 down against Colchester. Campbell called radio phone-in Talksport on his drive home, claiming he was planning to sign Messi but the club were too racist to give him the funds to do so"

Macclesfield deserve what they are about to get with him. They’ve only appointed him to get some publicity. He’s already going on about the lack of black managers and when he’s sacked in a couple of months time he’ll use that as the excuse as to why he’s been sacked. Macclesfield are playing a dangerous game with him and it will come back to bite them.

(Whilst I agree there should be more black managers if they are good enough and want jobs, he’s going to use it as an excuse. It’s quite sad really).

He's not gonna work as a manager, doesn't matter how intelligent he thinks he is, modern r day players need to warm to him and he needs to have a personality, the problem is he is a twat and I'm not just saying that because he has history with us he really is a twat of the highest order.

I'm just glad we finally get to see him in management, he might get the wake up call he needs, we'll see.

I completely agree. A lot of coaches focus so much on humility and the human side of coaching nowadays, something that he is incapable of and will go over his head. I recently watched a video on the 5 levels of leadership and was comparing it to the like of Poch and Klopp and you can see that they have any of these qualities and are very self aware in that respect. Now compare that to Campbell and it doesn't look good for him. I just can't see players buying in to what he tells them, especially at that level.

Maybe Sol should look a little closer to home as to why he had been unsuccessful for other jobs.

With all the bullshit that comes out of his mouth I very much doubt his players are going to understand a word of his coaching
