"I was just down the pub" has to be the perfect intro to an ITK report! Genius!

yeh i know ex albion keeper russell hoult and he says same about Koumas, no desire, hard to motivate and doesnt believe in himself too. Really paranoid about his bad skin/spots too, showers separately - very self-conscious

I can't see us getting Arteta for cash plus Jenas unless a) David Moyes takes a huge knock on the head minutes before the initial offer is faxed through or b) the cash part of the deal amounts to 100 million.

Except both Sven & Moyes were linked with Jenas in the summer, so we know they rate JJ.

It's probably bollox, but (as I've posted elsewhere) it's entirely logical that Ramos would want Arteta (a proper Spanish midfielder who's already acclimatized to the EPL). It also wouldn't surprize me if Arteta would gladly come to London, to play for Spurs under Ramos. So, if Arteta wanted to go, then Moyes has to try to do the best deal for Everton. From his perspective, Jenas plus a little cash may be more attractive than straight cash.

The more likely fly in the ointment is whether Jenas would want to go to Everton. But if Ramos makes it clear that Poulsen (see other thread) and Arteta are his first-choice CM, and JJ would be rotating with the likes of KPB and Tainio as a squad player, then it might make JJ's mind up to go. Pure speculation, naturally...

Btw I remmeber you mentioning Koumas as a good player we should be looking at. I've seen him 3 times now this season and he's easily good enough for us, or at least as good or better than what we currently have (I don't know if that is actually good enough for us). How has his career turned out so that he's played for so many shit teams?

I'm touched that you remembered :)

I've always thought Koumas was a cracking player. As Liam says below, it's always been an attitude thing with Koumas, which is why I always hoped that if BMJ could give him a huge bear hug and get him on the road to where he should be, he could maybe fulfil his huge talent. Not sure what Ramos' record with turning underachievers into World beaters is, but he seemed to do well with Kanouté.

As a wales fan and Cardiff city being my second team iv seen Koumas plenty of times and he's such an infuriating player, has so much ability but just doesnt have the desire or commitment to be a top player.

I actually started a thread on 30.05.07 titled "Koumas".

I can't believe this kid has spent so much of his career in the championship. did also say that I'm not 100% sure he was right for us, and I'm still not, I just think that there are much less talented footballers earning longer premiershhip livings.

Arteta....Everton would be INSANE if they sold him. He's their entire creative spark, take him out and the club is very ordinary and heavily dependent on Cahill doing his thing. As for Arteta himself, we don't have CL footie and we don't have competitive wages, it's really not hard to work this out. Jenas though...good for a laugh, that bit.

everton wont sell us arteta cheaply, if we wanted it to happen we would have to offer something crazy, £25 million and i think everton would consider it. we would offer 5 million with a further 5 add ons if we won the league and levy's son goes on to score a hat trick for england.

I wonder if his attitutde has changed given his age. I'd only seen glimpses of him before, but this season whenever Wigan have been on I've watched them and him speciffically and he hasn't lacked anything in the way of committment.

Yeah. Everything bad said about him seems to be off the field stuff. He's never disappointed on the pitch IMO.

Not in a milion years would we sell Jenas and buy Arteta. Completely different types of players.

Who the hell is going to run around the park, get up and down all game and make crucial interceptions, Zokora!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JJ is our best central midfield player by a country mile and the coaching staff need to find someone to play along side him like Carrick. They formed an excellent partnership together.
