Its ok, not close to the best about, or the worst about.

bent as a 9 bob note.
Fucking hell you lot are a bunch of whinging fucks :lol:
Venables was a great manager for us and had a great rapport with the media, which made his job with us (and the England job) much easier. Very pro Spurs when he was managing England and still bigs us up lots now, which is very much appreciated when lots of TV 'experts' nowadays seem to be Arsenal born and bred.
The ad is ok, mainly because i fucking love that song. Obviously, he's ruined it, but if it brings one of the great Elvis songs to the public attention, then i'm happy.

great??:rofl::rofl::rofl:
what exactly qualifies tel greatness as spurs boss? an fa cup win?
anyone who saw every round in 91,and i did, will tell you that Gazza won us the cup!
im not suggesting tel shouldnt get credit for the win,but we all know without gazza that year,we wouldnt have got near wembley.
im not saying el tel was crap.he did a good job, good=great?
great he wasnt!
alot of older fans never really took to tel, always seemed somthing about him that wasnt right.
if you want to look up great managers for spurs ..look under.
1.. Bill nick the truly great one
2.. keith burkinshaw who was as close to great as you can without being imo quite great.
3.EL tel :rofl:...great?
Just saw this, sorry. I rate Venables above most of our managers over the last 50 years, excluding the 2 you've mentioned which obviously coincides with our best times. There's no doubt Billy Nic and Burkinshaw were our 2 greatest managers since the 60's, then it's Venables for me. Jol is up there too, but just falls short, like Pleat to a lesser extent. Graham/Ramos may have won a cup but overall we weren't very good under them. We've had lots of shite too, so he may not have had too much competition, but finishing 3rd in my list is still pretty 'great' for me.
If we were Burnley supporters crowing on about our great managers, we'd put Coyle right up there because he got us into the Prem. In the whole scheme of things, it's not much cop is it, but it's still an achievement not bettered by most of their other managers.
Venables won the cup, played great football and was media friendly. We finished quite high in the league under him too and enjoyed stars in the mould of Gazza and Lineker because of him. So maybe not great in terms of trophies, but great for the main part for the average Spurs fan. In my opinion, of course. Certainly wouldn't mock the term 'great', especially when it's generally being pedantic :lol:.
these sites are wonderful, filled with all sorts of different opinons.
you of coures have the right to hero worhip whoever you like...as do i not to!
TBH i shouldnt even be responding to someone who lists jol or even more obsurdly pleat as being even mentioned in a 'great spurs 'managers debate..
as for my mate tel, what has media friendly got to do with greatness?:duh:
and finishing quite high in the league certainly doesnt get you greatness imo of course.
you certainly raised the bar having tel as a great spurs boss.
how on earth can future spurs managers compete with his great record.
really pointless response by you,agreeing his record wasnt great in winning trophies,usually the most important criteria for gaining greatness!
oh he was good with the media...and gazza loved him...
just a final note...as i said previously
tel did a good job imo...not one worthy of gaining greatness...
well not unless you become great because your better than ramos/graham/francis etc. or even pleat and jol who didnt win a bean
You're right when you said you probably shouldn't have responded, much like how I feel when you obviously didn't read the post properly. Your 'great' and my 'great' obviously differ. I already said he wasn't great in terms of trophies, that's blatantly obvious cos he only won one. Despite that, you've based your whole response on that.
The media friendly comment was based on the feelgood factor at the time he was in charge. They loved him so they loved us. He was big news and bought big players, for me it was 'great' to watch and be part of. Ooh look, I said it again. As for Jol, compared to most of the other managers we've had, he did a 'great' job and definitely brought the feelgood factor back after a long while. You're being pathetically pedantic about the term really. We had a 'great' season under Pleat. As I blatantly said, they were great compared to most of the dross we've had since BN.
It's obvious they're not great like Fergie has been great for Utd, but we're nothing like Utd, which is why I used the Bolton analogy. But I understand you see what you want to see and nothing else matters. But anyway, great response. And by great, I obviously mean below par. Ooooh, maybe you were right after all....
:bang::bang::bang::bang:
all above doesnt say or make him a great manager,stick to the script.
:duh:that was what this is all about
stop trying to be smart,great job... great guy...bla bla bla...
your blown out and you know it, get over yourself.
i will not respond to whatever you write,so dont bother, it was great talking with you,not! you were great fun.
now im off ....have a great day..
great??:rofl::rofl::rofl:

sorry mate dont want to get involved...but he does say spurs boss.
for the record....
venables got us playing some nice stuff,but i wouldnt go there with all the "great" nonsense,
greatness is somthing achieved over years of success.not 1 trophy.what he achieved elsewhere isnt the issue here.
we dont want to be like sunderland ,who built a statue of their fa cup winning boss...do we?
