They were certainly under-employed compared to Monday, but nothing got past them. The only blip was a minor one, Dawson launching one of those long diagonal balls of his. I don't mind them, it's just that I wish he'd check there was one of our players within ten yards.

Yeah true enough, but Newcastle gave the ball away cheaply more than any other side here this season. I can't recall us being under pressure more than once or twice, the whole game.

Saha was outstanding, his movement, engergy and speed were all fanstastic and he looked a level above Defoe....

That being said 4 assists and a goal along with a lot of great link play, movement and worth ethic mean Ade was MOTM by a country mile, not even an arguement to be made for anyone else being given the nod in my opinion

There is not many games you go away feeling really good and a big grin on your face but this match was one of them days.

Even though I had to get a train to Audley End from Cambridge then a coach to Bishop Stortford to get to Northumberland Park and on the way back I had to do it all over again and to make things worse the fucking coach driver did not know where he was going and ended up having to ask someone who he dropped off earlier for directions, then he took a wrong turning and totally went passed Audley End Station I had a great fucking day!

Before the game I was actually a bit worried and thought Newcastle were going to be a very hard team to beat. I thought they would be hardworking, hard to break down, but from the start of the game we totally dominated and I never felt like Newcastle were going to win. We totally dominated and played some lovely and cool style of football, one, two touch stuff, passing it around making little flicks and skill come off. Was great to watch and scored some lovely goals.

Ade and Saha played really well, we all knew Saha was a good player and what a difference he made today, hes got skill, can beat his man, finishs really well, thought he played very well. Ade was great I think all the goals come from him and he held it up well, worked hard made some great touches and runs and scored a great goal.

Everyone played well, Parker, Kranjcar, Modric, everyone played well and Newcastle were poor but we was good.

Enjoyed it and thought we was good to today. Some lovely football at times.

Friedal-8 not much to do but made a few good saves.

Walker-8 done well, got forward well at times, did pretty well

Dawson-8 done well, looked a bit clumsy as usual on the ball but made some nice simple balls, done well.

King-8 played well

Ekotto-8 took his goal well, few times let the cross some on early on in the game but done well, got forward wel, good game

Kranjcar-8 done well, good goal, should of scored another one, workd hard got back well, some good passing good game

Parker-8.5 worked really hard all game, did not stop as usual, very good game

Modric-8.5 again done very well, some lovely touches, balls etc, good game

Bale-8 done well, made some good runs, some good balls, shame he did not score

Ade-9.5 great game MOTM? set up all goals, held it up very well, some great skill and pace, very good game also what a cross was that?!?!

saha-9- also very good, great skill, the way he can beat his man, the way the ball sticks to him, took his goals superbly, made the difference.

Defoe done quite well when he came on actually and I thought was unlucky not the get a penalty!

The beautiful game.

That was a magnificent performance from start to finish. I was expecting the usual grind against the dogged Newcastle. The outstanding Emmanuel Adebayor had other ideas and set about dismantling Newcsatle almost from the kick off. This was his best performance for a while, maybe so far in a spurs shirt, and when he plays like this he is one of the best uber strikers in the EPL. He was doing the things he was doing earlier in the season. Dropping deep, roaming wide, holding the ball up and was the fulcrum for this superb performance.

Rewind a little and credit must go to Redknapp for his team choices today. Saha up front instead of Defoe and Kranjcar instead of Lennon. Big decisions, but very, very good ones. Kranjcar's not perfect, he has his weaknesses, but he facilitates passing football, and is a good balance for the power and pace of Bale.

In the absence of VDV, Kranjcar is a good surrogate - not necessarily identical roles or remits, but it means we don't miss that constantly moving and passing VDV as much. We don't sacrifice VDV's 50-60 passes and willingness to receive the ball from team mates.

Tactically they were superb choices and Redknapp deserves credit for making them when pressure and fan opinion would probably have said Defoe and Lennon must start.

I'm not generally one to get carried away, but this was a truly outstanding performance. We pressed well and worked hard off the ball and most pleasingly we didn't stop at any point in the game, we were calm and controlled in the second half and did all the right things. Choosing to keep the ball and pass it sideways and back and sideways and back, rather than relinquish possession. We sucked them out, let them spend all game chasing the ball and from start to finish were in complete control. 90 minutes of proper football.

Up there with the Liverpool game for me. And they are both up there amongst the best performances I have seen watching spurs.

Everyone was good, some were very good, and Adebayor was outstanding.

Ratings:

Friedel 7 - Not troubled much. Default score.

Walker 7.5 - Defending was pretty good today and he got forward really well, just lacked composure when he got there and I don't remember him making any of his positions count with a final ball.

Dawson 7 - Not tested really, but was steady.

King 7 - Was more of an influence today than the last couple . Good game.

Ekotto 8 - Saw shit loads of ball, loved the fact that he was up there to finish off that first goal, loved the celebration fro pat, a really good game, loved even more the Atoubaesque juggling in our box. Also needs to work on his end product when he gets forward though.

Kranjcar 7.5 - Good game, helps us play football, not right for every week maybe, but should have featured more.

Parker 8.5 - Outstanding game, holds everything together and seems to get a foot in everywhere. The blokes energy is unsurpassed and it's not just the busy ugly ****ing stuff he does, he makes himself available for the ball continually and played the type of pass for Walker that Modric would have been proud of.

Modric 8 - Very busy, very industrious and very good. Kept the ball ticking over constantly and worked hard.

Bale 6.5 - It isn't always going to be his day, and he's having a little lull in recent weeks, maybe a bit jaded, if poss he needs a rest I reckon. But it's hard to rest what he offers on a good day. Dilema. Good decision by Redknapp to take him off today.

Adebayor 9 - Simply outstanding. Everywhere. Hold up play was sublime (58 passes from 61 is phenomenal - I don't remember a striker turn in that kind of contribution since I've been looking at the stats), 4 assists and a very well deserved goal.

Saha 8 - Damn good performance. Two goals, 26 passes, good link play at times.

Sometimes football can be that last minute, penalty, game loosing agony. And sometimes it can be beautiful.

I agree with every word of that, and I reckon I would of gone for those exact player ratings as well. Saved me the time. (probably would of given Parker and 8, but thinking about it, and 8.5 is probably right, fantastic performance)

If you had told me before the game that 2 powerful, fast and athletic strikers were going help blast a team into a 4-0 half time lead today I would have been very disappointed, I was a little nervous after the last time against them when Ba and Ameobi caused us trouble with Newcastle's direct play, but it turned out to be Adebayor at his very best and Saha going a long way to proving why him replacing Pav (+ tidy profit) is a very neat bit of business.

We were very good today, early on we played very directly with 2 good presences up front - in fact the first 20 minutes saw Modric pretty much bypassed as we hit the front men and got runners forward. We hit them hard and fast and ripped apart their inconceivably high line Pardew chose to go with, I expected a tough game with them sitting deep and well organised but with Ade on that sort of form with best supporting act going to Saha we blew them away.

After that flurry we played sensibly and would have preserved a lot of energy that I expected to be spent playing a draining 90 minute battle. Modric then got his grip on the game and as usual it sang to his tune and Adebayor got a very well deserved goal. A thoroughly enjoyable day, a good 90 minute performance and with Chelsea losing today I think we can start dreaming of the San Siro's and Bernabeu's again. It would take a monumental collapse now to not be playing with Europe's finest again next season.

Friedel 7.5 A couple of excellent saves.
Walker 7.5 Good game.
Ekotto 7.5 Best game with the fro.
King 7.5 Not finished yet, that early interception when Guthrie got to the byline and crossed it was a perfect example of King's intelligence and reading of the game.
Dawson 7.5 Good game.
Parker 7.5 Barring another stupid foul in a poor position to earn himself a yellow, he was very good again.
Modric 7.5 As usual he made the most passes in the game. After our very direct opening 20 minutes he then saw us stroll the rest in 2nd gear, and as ever was a joy to watch.
Kranjcar 7.5 He's just a very good player isn't he. Chimed in well with our passing game, grabbed himself a goal and also that moment when he flicked it up and overhead kicked into Walkers path was glorious.
Bale 6.5 Says a lot that he was our quietest player there, but still some good moments and it's clear that he scares the fuck out of defenders just by being on the pitch.
Saha 8 Excellent business this, good on the deck, good in the air and even at 33 still has pace about him.
Adebayor 9.5 I'm not sure if I've seen a more complete strikers performance than this for Spurs, absolutely magnificent performance. Saw huge amounts of the ball, 4 assists which takes him only behind Silva in the assists column and a thoroughly well deserved goal. When he's like that he's a complete forward, a target man and false 9 rolled into one. He can hold it up and use his physicality but also drop deep and wide to get involved in the play, not to mention he's also very quick in behind the defence (the few times teams actually play high up and leave space in behind which is rare now.).

Excellent performance, we must keep the heat up on those ahead of us, if only to start developing that title winning mentality which we need. That and the Fa Cup please.

All were great.

Special credit to our fans. Those at the game were loud and it was nice to that you all sang Harry's name - you could tell he very much appreciated.

It really was Adebayor's day yesterday and I posted at the end of the game that he should be voted MOTM as he deserved it. This from one of his disgruntled critics for a while now. I hope he can keep up the standard.

However, I think every player played his part really well yesterday and I have nothing but praise for the effort they all put in.

Harry must also be mentioned (I wasn't one of those who had a go at him for bringing in Saha or Parker) and I think he got the message loud and clear yesterday, from players and supporters alike, that we don't want him to take the England job. He is, without doubt, the best manager we've had since Billy Nick and he can take us to heights that only Billy Nick reached with Spurs if he stays.

Surely, a much better prospect for him with club than with country.

am delighted with the performance, couldnt remember a better team performance to be fair....Adebayor shades it with a 10... am even more delighted with the performance of saha, and nelson looked sturdy when he came on (not bad for a 5th choice)...

Saha and Nelson cost zip and on transfer deadline day there was near rioting due to their signing.....its good to see that my faith in harry and danny boy wasnt ill conceived.

Newcastle mates watching in the pub with me were absolutely mesmerised by us....a direct quote "If you are going to see your team murdered ..... thats the way you want it to happen, skillfully and with precision not bludgeoned with a blunt instrument"...... That pretty much says it all for me!
