This is from Nick-Topspursman on COYS :

As we all know City have been taken over by Suleiman Al Fahim of Abu Dhabi Group, I have heard they have around £1.73 trillion pounds at least altogether.

City now are technically the richest club in the world.

Due to the work I do, this morning I have been told some interesting news which could effect us.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai are fierce rivals and are constantly trying to outdo each other. The Dubai Invesment Group, who tried to takeover Liverpool are furious that Abu Dhabi group have taken over City and made the headlines this morning with the Robinho signing.

What I heard this morning is that the Dubai Investment Group as of this morning have already started to desperately try and find a new Premier League club who they can take over, so that they can compete and not get outshone by the Abu Dhabi group.

Clubs on the list include Spurs, Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle. Spurs and Arsenal are the two choices they would rather go with as they are in London and they believe that they have greater potential/history etc.

The Dubai group are as loaded as the Abu Dhabi group and whoever they takeover will definitely spend loads of money as they want to be the number 1 owners in the country. Spurs are the favourites to be taken over as of this morning.

That's what I heard this morning guys, I'll keep you updated.

Funny enough, I wouldn't have wanted this to happen a few months ago but after last night, let the good times roll I say

All depends on how they go about it.
Good foreign investors like Randy Lerner would be welcome.
But I would prefer to avoid the get you in debt Glaziers or the "its my trainset and I'll interfere if I want to" like Abramovich.

Well with the history and tradition of the club, if you have someone like them backing the club financially I think we'd get any player in world football that we wanted ahead of Man City, but just out of interest, how much is this Dubai International actually worth, I heard rumours they were as wealth at the city owners.

If you look them up on google you only see them talking about projects worth many billions... so i think that they are very wealthy!

Let's not get to excited, this ITK rumour is so predictable the day after City's takeover.

I posted this morning that I felt the way in which we operated in the transfer window made me think that Levy was planning to sell.

Also someone else posted that we would be screwed once "they" runout of Oil. This wouldn't be a problem as Dubai doesn't rely on oil as much as the other arab nations as they have invested so much in tourism.

I would much rather we were run by a rich indivdual than a PLC

I find myself wondering why Man City were taken over and not us...what do they have that we haven't? We have location, prestige, history etc, as well as arguably a better (at least more proven) manager and more valuable squad (pre-yesterday's activities). To us, perhaps blinkered Spurs fans, we are a perfect club to take-over - a well run club and an attractive investment.

I can only come up with two reasons why an investment company would look at City before us:

1) Stadium - Man City have a brand-spanking-new stadium, huge capacity etc, and we have the need to build a new stadium or redevelop WHL. This huge expense really must put off potential investors.

2) Shinawatra Vs Levy - SSN reported yesterday that Shinawatra actively sought the new investment, and I think I caught Hughes congratulating him on managing to attract the Abu Dhabi group. Levy (reportedly) isn't looking to sell, not until we reach CL at least. So are we really going to be able to attract / accept a takeover if the club isn't open to it?

It's a shame that while Levy et al had a stong plan to get us into the CL, the possibility of us being able to do so is now further away than ever with only one spot to fight for in coming seasons (4th place will be between 'Pool, Arse, us and the rest, with the current top two now being joined by City in a new 'Big Three')

We are not that far off from being able to "buy" the prem title.

Man utd are still a force but not at their best. Arsenal are not at their best, Chelsea are solid but we drew with them at home.

If Pav and Corky do the biz for us, we are only a LM and super striker away from challenging IMO. Fitness allowing of course.

If this company gets in contact with Levy and Lewis and offers £800 million do you not think they will sell up, they are businessman, of course they will, if this is going to happen it will happen sooner than later, only problem is right now we can't buy anybody but with City's group naming who they want to buy ie Torres, Fabregas and Ronaldo and Dubai not liking it one bit, they'll probably try and get in somewhere before january.

Fuck me is this the same Gibbs ?

That's the first post that I've ever come close to agreeing with. I honestly think that we are already a better footballing side than Liverpool. I think with a LB, Midfield busy **** leader and Bent replaced with someone with a brain we would definately be a top4 quality side.

I would say that Arsenal would be their choice - they have a 60,000 brand new stadium with an Arab name (Emirates),they already have a very good manager and a very good squad of players.
We have no stadium and on top of that we have a close connection with the Jewish community, who they are not very fond of!
Its a no brainer they will go for Arsenal!

Didn't Glazer pay £600m for Utd, a bigger club in a better economic climate?

For £800m, Levy will bite his hand off!!
