If we spent £400m on players, we'd win the League. Instant success. But wheres the fun in that?

What would happen the season after? Any loss would be a shock.

Then when the owners get bored, they'd have to try and find a buyer who could afford the club, AND the horrendously astronomical wages.

I'd rather we had an english owner, who had a passion for the Club. Keep it the way it is I say. (Except get more betterer)

No, seriously. Imagine, if you will, the situation.

Pre-season we've signed anybody and everybody. Fans are anaesthetised to signing big name players, its just another tick down the list.

Everyone's tipping us to coast to the Title this year. We end up winning the League at a canter with our unstoppable dream team, nobody can compete with us.

Last game of the season, we win 4-0 against Villa, and the players parade the trophy round the stadium before heading back to the changing room.

Once we've done that, what is there to aim for other than winning every competition every year? Winning is the only option. Anything but total success is seen as a failure.

Its bad enough seeing Rangers and Celtic thumping all the other teams each season in the SPL, but imagine it in the PL without even having a rival to keep things interesting.

It would be a totally different feeling, however, if we achieved the feat with Bent and Zokora.

I don't think I'd be happy with an owner like that - we would just be another chavski trying to buy the league but when it gets to the stage that we can no longer even hope of getting to the CL due to the wealth of the other clubs then we would have to follow suit.

I'd much prefer a donation to build a lovely new stadium.

On a side note you've gotta feel sorry for Tal ben haim, he's probably crapping himself at city and wishing he'd come to spurs. The arabs have piled in and i cant see them being particularly favourable to him being jewish and all. They'll probably lock him in a cupboard with a dunce hat on till he denounces his religion. After all thery can afford it.

You never know we may even see a new player in the near future ... Tal Ben Ahmed, money can do funny things to people. lol

And now i finally realise ive drunk too much ... oh dear

good night/morning

p.s. ive postedf this three times ... why i dont know

I would say that Arsenal would be their choice - they have a 60,000 brand new stadium with an Arab name (Emirates),they already have a very good manager and a very good squad of players.
We have no stadium and on top of that we have a close connection with the Jewish community, who they are not very fond of!
Its a no brainer they will go for Arsenal!

you are wrong there ... if they are looking to compete with the city owners then they will look to start on level grounds

personally i wud not like this to happen. we wont to self success and we dont want to be another chelsea. I still feel we can be well without any takeover...

Please don't say that as they'll be looking for a top managerial replacement and I'm sure Ramos would be on their shortlist.
No they will put in a bid for Sir Alex, and Arsene, 200mil each, and have them as a double team, then they will get Cappelo as number 2.

(Kevin Keagan as director of football)

Can't see it happening for all the reasons above. Why would they pay top dirham for a financially well run club when they can get a cash strapped alternative for a fraction of the cost. If I'm Maktoum I'd buy Sunderland in a flash. Ambitous and tough management, great stadium, huge fan base, cheap.

Should it happen, I guess we'd all have much the same mixed set of emotions. Sad that it's happened, but happy that we aren't being left behind in the new order.

You and I have totally differnt views on this

The fun would be that we won the league.

For people like me who have only ever seen us win 3 throphey's winning the league would be fun trust me, regardless of how we won it.

I wouldn't care less what other fans had to say (much like Chelsea fans dont care about the same insults been thrown at them.)

I agree that the potential for instabilty would be a concern, sure I would not like a owner to leave us in the shit once he got bored.

But as far as your opening statement, I could not disagree more.

If I was given a straight choice between being run as we are now and slowely progressing (with some kind of moral highground) towards failed CL spot challenges and maybe hopefully one day getting in the top four

or

Being taken over by a huge investor and buy the worlds greatest players and instantly challanging for and winning all manner of thropeys (as well as being a CL team and gaining the world wide exposure that brings, by being able to win that too)

well my friend I would choose the latter, football is now all about success... just look how excited we all were about our Carling Cup win last year, imagion if we were winning the league and Champions league.

Put it this way if I had the option to go back in time and convice mr LEvy and mr Abramovic to strike a deal to buy/sell our club instead of him owning Chelsea I would in a heartbeat.

You wouldn't trade postions with Chelsea? they have won the league twice and been in the CL final as well as winning Carling and Fa Cups and been in the CL every year since the take over.

We have one Carling cup in that time and 3 seasons of Uefa cup football.

I admire your morailty, but in all seriousness we will never compete with the top clubs without a take over. I dont believe we would ever be in a postion to challenge for the league, let alone year in year out without a Man City style take over and similar investment to Chelsea have had (if not greater)

I remember reading a very emotive piece in the papers a couple of years back by a die hard Chelsea fan who said that spalshing all the money and buyig success had ruined his enjoyment of being a Chelsea fan and he would do anything to be a mid table contender again.

Personally I am against being bought by a foreign investor. To be fair we have enough financial backing and a strong enough squad to compete as it is. We are only a couple of players away (a strong central midfielder and a world class striker) from being a threat to the top 4. Sure that might be more difficult now that City have a shed load of money but whose to say it will work?

I think we should have a little faith in the club and reward their hard work over the past few seasons with our support.

Do we really want to run around WHL with arab head scarfs on or listen to Russian music in the stadium? No, because we are an English Football Club. Foreign investors change the culture of a club.

The same could be said for Newcastle though. Actually, even more so. Sunderland are very happy. They have money to spend and they have owners that are close to the club. Newcastle on the other hand have a problem with their fans. The fans arent happy with Ashley with the Keegan affair thats going on. It wouldn't surprise me if the Dubai group capitilise. Take over Newcastle, Keegan stays on and all the fans are excited over the thought of their 'Messiah' taking them back to the top, like he did before. He'd have the money to sign the Ginola's and Asprilla's all over again.

hi some of you may remember the group that attempted to take over liverpool before it was taken over by the yanks well they are rivals with the group that has taken over man city they are apparantley very pissed with the news that they brought a team in the leauge before they did this to companys are very big rivals as i said one is from dubai one from abu dhabi and both like to think they are the biggest and the best rumors going round in the city this morning is that the dubai group are going to be buying a club very soon and the two clubs there looking at are us and a club just down the road the smart money and most of the rumour is that they have already held talks with ourselfs about a takeover and it may jusy happen now as they did not expect this abu dhabi group to beat them to it and trust me anyone that has been to dubai nows that they like to be the best at everthing so if these rumours are correct spurs could soon be spending big money

Where did you hear the rumour? I'm guessing you don't work in the city from your post!
