Too add to this, I hear Muscatt and Loft will be getting third year scholarships.

Well that's almost all the Academy Year 2 sorted - and very early this season.

Stars on pro contracts already - Glover, Carter-Vickers and Maghoma
To be Given Pro contracts - Owens & Styliandes
To be given 3rd year scholarships - Muscatt and Loft
Told to find other clubs - Paul, Hayford, Daly

Only one we don't know about yet is McDermott (GK), who has not played that much, largely because Glover and Whiteman are so good, so depends if we want more GK cover or not

No they definitely did.

As for CCV being higher publicity, probably, but both were 17 as far as I know?

As @spurs9 said if you look at the date it's October this year. We're talking about him receiving his first pro contract, that would have been signed on his birthday 31st December 2014. We did not announce that as far as I'm aware.

I don't know what you mean by higher publicity, I was just saying that we found out because Daily Mail ran this story, which included that he had signed a pro with us.

Chances are if Edwards has signed we won't announce it, maybe a paper might if they think it's news worthy

Fair Muscatt and Loft get a 3rd year. They have done more than enough to earn that. I'd be surprised if McDermott does. Glover for u21s next year. Voss on loan, Whiteman can get games maybe for u21s next year as back up, as Austin and Freeman can cover u18s. McGee will still most likely be around. McDermott won't really find time and I haven't been impressed by him

Why is Sterling being fast tracked through the academy when Marcus Edwards has way more natural talent? strange one

I have been meaning to post on here but haven't had time but I read this post had to reply

There is nothing strange about this, I mentioned Sterling is being fast tracked a while back and he would continue to be unless he wanted to sign for another team. He is a really good prospect works very hard and has shown to be very good. He is just as big as a talent Edwards in some respect. He doesn't have the hype but we have high hopes for him.

Also who said edwards wasn't being fast tracked?

If Edwards signs there is one thing that will stop him from being fast tracked and thats himself, he could be one that is initially seen as one for the immediate future but then instead may need another year or two on top of a fast progression

Edwards may become a big player or he may become this generations Joe Cole, its in his hands

Positional need? Sterling can play the lone striker in the 4-2-3-1 that Poch prefers whereas Edwards plays in behind where we have plenty of options already.

Not really fast tracking a youth player would have no immediate impact on our team as sterling is still probably 2 seasons away(perhaps one) from being at the level for being a fringe player however the fact we only have Harrison and Loft does mean he is more needed in that sense

However there is an opening at AM for U21 which Edwards can make his own

Assuming that is the case - I'd suggest the coaches are probably in a better position to take a judgement on that being a better course of action for one vs. another. It could just be a purely character related point, or that they're protecting Edwards (physically) for now over (for example) concern re: injuries or something.

I'd imagine they've thought it through

#THFC U18s draw Middlesbrough at home in the FA Youth Cup 4th round. Tough draw but we're capable. #COYS

Tie will be played before January 16th, probably at Stevenage. We beat Boro 2-1 in the 3rd round in 2013-14.

I saw that Sterling may be earmarked for fast tracking. Whilst I have seen his name mentioned on here quite a bit, can someone please let me know what sort of player he his, i.e. best position, skills and height and build etc.

Thanks

Edited for spelling, my keyboard had a bit of a thrombie!

Posted this in ITK thread not the most eloquent but O well.

He's about 5"9 quick striker and can also play on the wings. I guess instantly what would make him appealing to Poch assuming this is true is that he is a very hard worker and presser. Kind of guy that even if he isn't having a good game he will track back and work for the team. I personally think he is going through a patch of bad form atm compared to last year and the start of this year. He has some learning to do. Raw is a cliché term but it's fair and understandable for someone of his age, 17 now.

As well as the positives above, the striker specific ones are that he has a good snap shot on him e.g. I've seen him back to goal and suddenly spin on the ball and hit it well and importantly is a good finisher. He can also shift and shoot it well. His link up play is decent with the one touch stuff. He can come short but also run in behind. I think his hold up play is decent but like I said at the moment I think he is struggling to get into games I can't quite figure out what he's doing wrong at the moment, and I also think he needs to add something to his game to beat a man. Even if it is just one trick. He can also strike a ball well with his weaker left foot. Last thing that comes to my head is that he is very brave and tenacious. I've seen him go for some brave headers and go through challenges and he isn't big at all, a real 100% player. Which shouldn't take away but add to the fact he is a good striker, but like I said he is in bad form at the moment and still needs to add something to his game. Good that Poch likes him.

I know this report jumps from one bit to another but I'm just writing what comes to my head.

Good game, they have traditionally had a good academy and I think they are doing well this year too.

At the game yesterday was really good seeing Whiteman, Onomah and Carter-Vickers all on the pitch together warming up. Would love for us to bring through a keeper.

Was also great seeing Onomah make his debut for the first team 3 years and 3 months on from the first time I saw him play at the Lane, been great to see him go through that journey and perform against a top side in a way we all knew he could. Reason for all Spurs fans to be proud. Hopefully he gets a few more starts throughout the season.

Really hope CCV and Whiteman took in and enjoyed that opportunity. I still have faith in Carroll just unsure what happens with his contract. Really is amazing how many talented young players we have and how many could potentially miss out.

Also love at the end how Carroll gave Onomah a hug as if to say,he was proud to see him grow up and play with him in the team.

Thanks IGS, the info is much appreciated. Living the other side of the Irish Sea I rarely get to any game at all, leave alone the under age games so to get that sort of info is helpful.

Saw my mate this evening nothing major to report. Asked about Edwards if he signed a pro he said he thinks he will sign this year whatever that means, I didn't pry. Definitely didn't sound like he was going anywhere.

Didn't get any loan info, i.e he didn't suggest anyone was. Asked about Milos again nothings really changed sadly, though he said he is class. Skipp et al have been offered their scholarships. I know Skipp is younger but he is saying it's already been offered for the following year for him.

Possibly the most interesting piece is he said the two highest ranked players in the academy are Thorpe and a player we have picked up from Palace. Don't know how to spell the name but I reckon it is Nonni Mandeki. Don't have a clue what age group he is. If that includes the u16s then that is impressive as he didn't mention the standard 4 for example. I've heard a lot about Thorpe from different people talking him up and seen a bit. However to be one of the two highest ranked confirms everything being suggested. He went to the England u16/15 training camps and I assume at the moment his size really holds him back for England standard, as in the actual team, has he can't be much over 5ft. But I can imagine when he grows he will be one of the players to look out for.

EDIT- I've also heard good things about Jeremie Mukendi looking at the similar surnames I wonder if that is who he meant. Though he definitely said Nonni and not Jeremie so could have a nickname or could be two separate players

EDIT EDIT - Further to above found out Noni Mandeki is an u14 that plays no.10. One to look out for

FWIW, I asked Windy via DM on Twitter (I'm sure he won't mind me saying) a couple of days ago and he also said it looks like Edwards is going to sign.

Thank you for the info, do you know if there was concrete interest from other clubs for Marcus?
