Yedlin should be back early enough - Copa finals are June 26, and US will be hard-pressed to get that far...Lamela might make it that far

I also don't see anything on South Korea's schedule beyond Friendlies on June 1 and 5, so unless I am missing something, he should be here.

Plus, if Rooney and Wilshere get prominent roles with England, those lads should all be done early...

south korea are at the olympics in brazil starting on the 4th of august and i assume son will join up a couple of weeks before.

I was very much looking forward to seeing what Ramsey did when he was given the QPR job. We'd heard so much about him as a coach, how well qualified he was etc, and I remember reading an article about him (a couple of years before he left Spurs) and how he was looking forward to managing a club one day because he "had his own ideas that weren't necessarily the ones being taught at Spurs". But he was awful as a manager, made some shocking decisions at QPR, tactically dreadful.

I know there are some that still hold Sherwood in high regard on this forum, but I think that Levy knew what he was doing when he got rid of those three - possibly aided by McDermott.

I still think Inglethorpe was a major loss. A very talented coach.

Sherwood was and is more of an agent than a coach, and by that I don't mean that he has any financial links to our players, more that his main role was advocating for the younger lads. As far as I am aware he wasn't that hands on and left that side of things to Chris Ramsey. Ferdinand's role was...I'm still not entirely sure. Sherwood's main contribution was convincing Levy to trust McDermott and the youth system after Ramos, Redknapp & AVB had basically treated it like a distraction. The fact is when given the chance to actually run things Sherwood proved himself pretty clueless, and you've only got to listen to the extremely unglowing way in which the likes of Erikesen, Vertonghen and Lloris talk of Sherwood's time in charge to see that he was not only not much of a training ground coach, he also wasn't much of a tactician or man manager either. All three have essentially intimated that they were sent out with nary a hint of a tactical plan and blamed when the inevitable happened. Sherwood combined Hoddle's arrogance & disagreeableness, Redknapp's lack of professionalism and Jol's tactical incompetence. He hit the jackpot with Harry Kane, and to a lesser extent Bentaleb and, as all great self-publicists do, he will dine on it forever.

I have just been offered two tickets for the NextGen competition in Amsterdam starting May 14th. That has cheered me up a bit after last night. Any idea of what kind of team they will be taking (age group etc).

Poch has been keeping a close eye on Marcus. If we secure top 2 against Southampton don't be surprised to see Marcus on the bench vs Newcastle. (y)

Would love this, however i am a little pessimistic due to onomah, winks etc rarely getting on the bench recently

Might not have much choice after last night! Dembele's going to be suspended for the final two games so with Bentaleb injured I'd expect Onomah to be on the bench for Southampton at least.

Appreciate that your info is passed on in good faith but that would stun me. Especially if Newcastle need a result to stay up.

Since we're in the Champions League next season, we'll also field an U19 side in the UEFA Youth League. Should be a good chance for our youngsters to get experience in European competition.

Its an under 19 tournament http://nextgen.amsterdam/en/series/ and on the link are the fixtures.

So expect to see the squad of say 18 players drawn mainly from Academy Year 1 and 2 probably plus a couple of the younger development squad who will just be under the age limit or as an over age limit player and maybe a triallist or two.

Academy Year 2 http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/academy/second-year-profiles/
GK’s –Thomas Glover, Thomas McDermott
Defenders - Christian Maghoma (CB), Joe Muscatt (LB),
Midfielders –
Charlie Owens (DM), Zenon Styliandes (CM/AM), Shilow Tracey
Strikers – Ryan Loft

Academy Year 1 http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/academy/first-year-profiles/ )
GK’s
– Alfie Whiteman, Brandon Austin
Defenders - Joy Richard Mukena (CB), Jaden Brown (LB/CB), Nicholas Tsaroulla (LB), Japhet Tangana (CB)
Midfielders – Dylan Duncan (AM), George Marsh (DM), Jack Roles (CM)
Forwards - Marcus Edwards (no 10),Sam Shashoua (RW), Keanan Bennetts (Winger/Midfield), Aramide Oteh (Striker), Kazaiah Sterling (Striker)

The squad list, including numbers, will be on the NextGen site, and we will post it on here.

We look forward to any notes you make during the tournament

Enjoy

The Pre-season is certainly going to be fun !

The Euros 2016 round of 16 will be on 25th to 27th June (and I can't; believe England and Belgium won't get at least that far) with quarter finals 30 June -3 July (historically that can be where England get knocked out in WC tournaments) whilst the final itself isn't until 10 July.

The players will want a 3 week break after that (no time to take a break before Euros 2016) so the players involved in Euros 2016 will be back to start training at the earliest 22 July and possibly as late as 31 July.

Meanwhile in Australia we play on 26th July (Juventos) and 29th July (Athletico Madrid),

Whilst the PL season itself kicks off on 13 August.

So I imagine the u21's and players not on international duty will start pre-season maybe 1 July or at latest the end of first week of July, so they will have a couple of training matches as part of pre-season so as to be relatively fit before the matches in Australia, whilst most of the first team who have been away on international duty will be very early in their pre-season fitness training. So I can't see they will play full matches - or of they do won't manage to play both matches - and its quite possible that some of the players will not be back in time for the matches in Australia especially if Belgium or England get to the finals !.

And that in turn surely means that some of the u21 squad will be involved in first team matches, and probably more than last pre-season.

The first team main pre-season training (at least for England and Belgium players - probably about 8 of our first team looks as if it its going to be mainly shoe-horned into the 2 weeks after the Austraila tour when I imagine there will be one or two other pre-season friendlies scheduled.

Basically our squad is going to be knackered going into the start of the season (part of why, for example, I didn't want Kane going to last summer's under 21 euros as it would kick on to next season with him being away with England this summer).

Ideally we want one of Belgium or England to get knocked out early doors. So Belgium then!
