Didn't really work for us last summer when we bought Sissoko for £30m. Sorry but I think this idea that waiting until the dying days of the window somehow benefits us is a myth. Might have worked back in the day when other PL clubs were skint but not today when they're swimming in TV rights revenue.

One swallow does not a summer make. We screwed the pooch on that one. But the proof of my statement is abundantly clear simply by the fact the vast amount of transfers that take place on deadline day.
