Personally I see no reason at all to play Pavs if he is leaving in January, I'd rather see players who have a future at the club trying to further their case rather than a guy who's hearts not in it anymore - feel for the guy but I see no reason playing him for the sake of it - unless Harry is thinking about keeping him and involving him more.

Gomes
Hutton Dawson Bassong Bale
Bentley Modric Jenas Kranjcar
Gio
Keano(c)

Something like that, will be interesting to see Harry's choice.

I agree about Pav, but surely Hollywood Bentley is in the same boat? I can't see the point in playing either of them as after that Grays friendly it is clear thay are not bothered any more. Also according to physioroom Bentley is not expected back from his calf injury until 10th January.

Didn't really think about Bentley if I'm honest, just went on autopilot.

Suppose Rose might get a chance to shine or Bale pushed into LM and Naughton given a crack at LB?

Promises to be a cracking cup tie, really looking forward to it, I'm sure they'll be more of a handful than West Ham were today.

I think Wilson needs and deserves a rest , Hudd and JJ should be too good for Peterborough, that's not cocky that's the truth.
I think Crouch also needs a rest and hope that Pav is interested enough to play.
Any knocks on Lennon,Modric, Defoe and they should not be risked, get them chomping at the bit for a famous victory at Anfield!

No, it's not - but I wasn't saying any specific suggested formation was being cocky, or giving some of the reserves/youngsters a chance :)cry::cry::cry:just rewatching Everton/Spurs and Howard has saved JDs pen again:cry::cry::cry:) is being cocky. Just that getting the attitude of 'it's only Peterborough' could see egg-on-face.

JJ and THudd should be way too good for them - but I would also be interested in seeing Mods in the middle, and Kranks on the right, for instance - thogh that won't show as much as playing against a Prem team.

Any knockers :)omg:players who have knocks:wink:) should be rested - of course.

we have a 8 days until our next game after this one, so may as well play a near full strength team. no need to be silly.

Harry got it spot on against Preston & Doncaster in the CC so I'm sure he'll find the right blend.

Looking forward to watching George Boyd at the Lane, i know we have been looking at him closely, i would love him at the Lane a typical Spurs type player.

I agree the team needs to be at a certain strength and not put a complete youth / reserve side out. But, I am not worried about fatigue, its injuries that concern me, which can easily happen, and put key players out of one of our biggest games of the season against Liverpool.

Peterborough will be hard working and physical, as to out play us they will not, but hard working, tough tackling they will be, too disrupt our game.

I think a couple of players maybe rested, but I dont think it will be a drasticly inexperienced team

Gomes
Hutton - Corluka - Dawson - Bale
Gio - Jenas - Kranjcar - Rose
Keane - Crouch

Subs - Alnwick/Walker, Bassong, Huddlestone, Modric, Defoe, and lets say two kids

Give the first team a rest. They must be knackered..
Id play something like this:

Gomes
Hutton Dawson Bassong Bale
Bentley Modric Jenas Giovani
Keane Pav

Still bloody strong.. Iv put Modric in there because i think he needs a lot more game time before he'll be back to his best.

Agree with that. Would like to give Dawson a rest too but it'd have to be a youth player to step in and I don't know who's available (i.e. not on loan or injured)

I don't want to see huge changes as throwing a bunch of players together is very difficult to get them to play as a team and a result their individual performances look bad.

Gomes
Naughton Dawson Bassong Bale

Dos Santos Jenas Modric Kranjcar

Keane Crouch

I would expect Harry to give games to Hutton, Keane, Gio and Bale. we don't have European footy to worry about so major rest periods aren't as important as the last couple of years.

Expect other minor changes that Harry will pull out the bag (Rose maybe) but will be looking to ensure that there is continuity in the side too I'm sure.

managed to sneak a ticket on the exchange system this morning...

It's a toughie.

Bentley would have been a pick but if reports are to be believed, he's peed off Redknapp big-time so maybe he won't be considered?

Gomes - has to play really, we've not got an alternative decent option! Although Walker is quite competent at championship level so maybe worth a punt?

Hutton obviously needs games, Dawson / Bassong are rotated with King so shouldn't be a problem them playing and Bale at left back to give Assou-Ekotto a break.

Midfield is hard to call, Dos Santos to be given a chance on the right and although tempting to put Modric in the middle, given he is just back from injury I'd leave him on the leftas would be worried about him overdoing it so early into his comeback. Jenas would have to come in and Hudd stay in as we have no-one else.

Modric is a tough one though as wouldn't know whether it would be best to rest him and give Krancjar a game, or let him play to build up his fitness.

Up front Keane is an easy decision to make but is Pav's head right to play?

Again though, there is no-one else as would preferably want to give Crouch and Defoe a rest. Out of the two I'd think Defoe would be the better to start alongside Keane, as Crouch gets through a lot of donkey work plus Defoe is the form man.

Gomes

Hutton Dawson Bassong Bale

Dos Santos Huddlestone Jenas Modric

Keane Pavyluchenko

Subs: Walker, Naughton, Palacios, Krancjar, Defoe

i would not play anyone who is going or may at that point be gone. So no bentley. Pav. Naughton. Hutton for a start as all them are supposed to be leaving or going on loan! But i would like to see modders and gio get a game. Robbi needs starts and rose needs a chance. Whoever is our new left back should play and give king a rest if he is starting v liverpool? Jj needs more games and i would love to see modders play with nico!

Here is an opportunity to get Modric / Kranjcar in the same side and also see how Modric will go in the roaming role.

Hudd, Palacios and Jenas are on 4 bookings each. If they get yellow-carded against Peterborough, they would miss the Liverpool game. Having said this, I would rest our first choice pairing Hudd and Palacios, and play Jenas and Kranjcar/Bentley in the middle.

Was not sure if I was gonna go to this if Arry was playing the 2nd 11 (Bentley,Hutton,Pav and co). But you have reminded me that peterborough have some good players I want to see, like Mclean,Makcail-Smith and Boyd, so think i will go along now.
