Would not expect Holtby or Defoe to start. Chadli fits better in the system but AVB unlikely to drop Siggy for him at this point

AVB said Rose had a 90% chance of playing vs Chelsea.

He was either bullshitting or there's been a setback and he was being truthful, I don't know.

The Spurs treatment room is a fucking black hole. Next time we see Capoue or Lennon we'll all have forgotten they play for us..

They will be well up for this - it will be a back against wall fight.
Guess so.

They seem to be under some strange belief they have absolutely quality defenders. I read a few posts in transfer window that they wouldn't accept £20 million for Winston Reid. Laughable when we got Verts for half that.

From BBC:
Just one of the five goals that West Ham have conceded in the Premier League this season has come from open play.

I would love to see an easy, big win, but fear another tense encounter. W Ham will raise their game against us and Hippo is good at organisation if nothing else. A lot will depend on whether we get an early goal. If we get a couple, then their roof could cave in, but that's an optimistic bet.

If Kaboul was fit I think we might have seen Vertonghen at LB again. But our midfield screening means we shouldn't need to worry so much about extra height in defence. The key will be us having a creative enough front-4 to break down W Ham in open play, if necessary via a bench job over 90 mins. So I think it's Soldado to start and then Defoe from 60-70 mins. It's Eriksen to start and Holtby when Eriksen tires. It's Townsend and Siggi with Lamela and Chadli ready (and soon I'd like to see Lamela given 15 minutes as a proper 10).

Some time I'd also like to see us try 20 minutes at the end with a version of 4-3-1-2 with both Soldado and Defoe up front and Eriksen behind them. The midfield three needs Sandro (Capoue) brought on as a specialist holder, plus any two of Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby, Siggi, Lamela, depending on circumstance, subs, etc. That team would be narrower but would have more chance of scoring goals down the middle channels.

I also agree with other posters who say we need to play some of each game with natural width, ie. playing left footers on the left and right footers on the right. When Bale and Lennon used to swap sides for 10-15 minutes mid-half it used to present opposition based on organisation with a new set of problems.

They're definitely going to pack it in, especially with it at WHL. I still expect some goals from us though. Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton; Paulinho, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Lamela; Soldado is what I'd like to see. Townsend will probably get the start though, will probably have space to shoot though, with West Ham playing 8 in the box at all times.

I really like Siggy playing on the left but ONLY when Rose is playing.
Danny is brilliant at getting up the left to overlap allowing Siggy to move inside.
However Naughton doesn't really drive that far past the half way line and Siggy can be a bit of a pushover on his own.
So for me it has to be Chadli and Naughton.
Nacer is big and strong and he has recently shown that he too can also get a few goals coming in from the left.

Yeah I can see fat Sam packing 11 men behind the ball, the key will be an early goal to draw them out

tough game - Allardyce will park the bus and try to hit us on the counter and the high line is always a risky option but on paper we should walk this one in but how many times have we said that about Spurs?

This is a perfect time to try the anti "controlled parking zone" formation:

Soldado
Eriksen - Holtby - Townsend/Lamela

and some other players behind the front four :)

This could have easily been another of those frustrating 0-0's without the creativity we've signed. I think we've got the quality to find a way through though. 1-0 with Paulinho scoring, Eriksen assist is my onion.
