Our midfield just isn't good enough for this level of football
I think Winks has had a good game tbh. Sissoko a bit off tonight but he's done some good things. I think they're just defending well tbh but Moura has been poor.

our midfield tonight includes a CB and a RB. I thnk we are actually doing ok in the middle of the park
Yeah apart from not being able to pass, control or keep the ball we are looking shit hot in midfield.

This is frustrating. Watching on German sky sports.

They show 4 mins of spurs game then 4 mins of Ajax.

Ajax should be 2-0 up btw b

Have you not been listening to the commentary? I reckon Savage is on the verge of proposing to Sancho.
I listen to Radio 5 while watching. The lag means I have time to turn the TV off if we concede.

Lucas just has one game and that’s the wing. When he’s playing central he just looks like a Winger who’s ran past the number 9 and can’t be arsed to get back to his position.

What's so frustrating about Lucas is you can clearly see he's got the technical ability, but it's like he lacks the awareness. If they go at him one by one he gets past easily but once they pressure with more it's like he loses their position and walks straight into 'em.
He's not good at a starting position. He's always at his best once he's moving and got a bit of speed built up. His poor touch can be put down to his mind always being a step ahead of his feet, in his mind he's already got the ball and moving.

I have issues with what we are doing both with and without the ball.

This is one of those nights where how we construct attacks is showing. Every week, even in games we are winning and have our best performances, we have too many players stood still or just waiting for something to happen as the game goes on. It's one area where we could really improve as a team, a disciplined unit is making things difficult but we make it easy for them. That's why you get so much play between centre backs and sitting midfielders shuffling the ball about, not usually because they cant technically play a pass.

Without the ball, all I'm going to say is that this season we are light years away from the standards we have set in previous years, in terms of pressing, compactness, shape...... The narrow selections Poch has used doesn't help, but it seems every game we give up space against all opposition. Luckily so far Dortmund haven't punished us.

We've got to step it up here in all aspects of our play. An unconvincing half.

Agreed, he's much better high and wide, drifting inside on the odd occasion. But needs must at the moment with the lack of options.

You're lucky - it's turning into one long Sancho wankfest. He did fuck all for the first 20 minutes, but according to the BT commentary team when he created one half-chance, he was all of a sudden the most dangerous player on the pitch.

Maybe we just need to bang him on the head. Then he'll be in sync.

We are distinctly second best. Formation isn’t working. We have zero cutting edge. So easy to read our play.

Moura I really don’t see it with him. He hardly ever does anything and always loses the ball.

Winks can’t pass forward at all tonight. Always over hitting the pass when he rarely does try to be progressive.

Dortmund look far more likely to score.

I just don’t see enough ability at all.

If Eriksen leaves we should sign one of Dortmund's defenders to take his number...

"Zagadou-dou-dou, he's our number 23..."

Rio cumming his pants over Sancho. Was a discussion on talksport earlier about whether we hype up English players too much. Absolutely we do.

Absolutely. Would much prefer a disciplined 4-2-3-1 where there would be a better balance in terms of attack and defence over an overly-safe approach that creates very little.

Regardless of how much the commentators are purring over Dortmund, they actually look there for the taking to me. It just depends if Poch will go for it. I'm a bit worried that his positive change will be Lamela for Lucas, when I think we need to go to 4 at the back and have a bit more in midfield to try and work through them.
Tbh, my team selection with eriksen at 10 dropping to help develop play in between foyth and sissy is wunderbar.

Problem with wing backs is you need someone to cross to. Seems redundant having the width and then Son and Eriksen attacking the crosses.
