The squad is taking shape, we have the makings of a full on, high press starting eleven and likely buy in two or three more next Summer.

If Werner maintains the kind of form he is showing then another quality addition at an absolute bargain cost.

So this is how new data-driven football vs old data-driven football feels like 😁 .... crazy stuff.

Shambolic at times but so good to watch at other times. Need our missing players back (Sarr Bissouma and Son) and others to get back to full fitness and anything is possible.

Anyone criticising god for any of his comments during the game can fuck right off. I’ll fight you naked.

SC is full of other things to moan about. Go find one :D
It's funny I have seen moans about commentators being too biased and now he wasn't biased enough.. and some people struggle with names it's probably the same people moaning who can't spell Ndombele right.

Was a good win in the end. First half was frustrating as fuck. We played into their hands and were trying to be to intricate in their low block around their box. Allowed ourselves to get sucked into a their shithousery as well and it disrupted our game.

Second half was so much much better., though that loast 10 minutes was far too tense. Fans did well to keep the atmosphere up when most were likely as nervous as me.

Oh and I thought the light show would be a bit cringe but it was actually quote good. Would imagine more fans will join in when they do it in the future.

- Crowd good but the booing when we pass backwards is frustrating. We needed spells of possession to calm down
I had the game on low volume so didn't noticd. ffs I hate it when the fans do that. It's pathetic honestly. You're completely right we need to have spells where we take the tsing out of it.

One of the worst things (and there are many) about match threads is the moaning about commentators. Week in, week out, the same people moaning about the same commentators.

OK, we get it. Fuck off and give it a rest :D

Only now watching game:

- I really do not like our super high lines on free kicks in our own half. We almost conceded from one tonight and have conceded from a few this season
Agree with this.

I understand the high line during open play - we're trying to turn the ball over high up the pitch and maintain pressure. But just defend the wide free kicks. Every team now has one or two dead ball specialists who can put the ball almost wherever they want to. Don't give them 15 yards of space to stick it on the centre forwards forehead.

A pretty decent summation by a neutral. Nice to see she clocked the ref was garbage too

Could've watched the UK emission but chose to watch it in French on Canal+.

Commentator was female and balanced.

Perfect.

I can understand and forgive so many of the fuckups that refs make, because it is a very, very difficult, and very high-pressure job. But fuck me does it make it difficult to keep perspective when you see a decision like that, which is clearly made on a split-second calculation based on not wanting to have to send someone off. If you give it...then he absolutely has to go. So...you just don't give this blatant foul, and they turn the ball over and have another pop. It was an absolutely outrageous decision in the context of the game and the state of the play in the moment. He's not made a mistake that deserves any understanding or sympathy. He's intentionally decided to not give it because it would be a difficult situation.

The stupid thing is that ridiculous decisions like this only ratchet up the pressure further, leading to even more ridiculous decisions biased in favour of trying to avoid copping any flak. You just have to hope that they review this stuff internally and try to do better, but I fear that we all have little hope of that.
Absolutely agree that the barge on Johnson was a free kick. Where the ref didn't give it and they counter attacked, had they scored would VAR ha gone back to that incident and overturned the goal and decision?

The standard of refereeing these days is abysmal. Youy don't get a decision based soley on the laws of the game, you get decsions based on the game situation, context and the mood of the official.

If Richarlisons first half goal is disallowed becuase the slightest touch on the side of defenders knee is considered a foul, there is no way on earth Norgaard assaulting Johnson late on is not a foul. For the sake of fairness, if it is considered that even that contact by Richarlison, however slight, was sufficient to send the player to ground, then fine, it's a foul, but that has to mean that any contact that doesn't get the ball and sends a player to ground is a foul.

If Howard Webb is truly serious about improving things then he needs to get referees to come on tv, show them these situations and make them explain themselves. You'd soon start to get more consistency in their decisions.

I was at the game, I didn't hear this.

If it happened, it was a small minority

Don’t worry you’ll probably have Gallagher on sky today telling you why the decision and non decision we’re right!

Fantastic effort given that half the team are still a long way off full fitness. Everton won’t be easy.

Wonder what Maupay thinks of their upcoming fixtures, I think they could very well get dragged into a relegation fight.
