He didn't have Sarr and Bissouma in his first 28 prem games, when he took us from 10th to 4th - and he had Romero out injured for the first 3 months. He had Deki and Bentancur from February. And in his second season he had Loris, Emerson, Doherty, Tanganga, Dier, Romero, Sanchez, Lenglet and Davies to make a defence out of. Oh and Perisic scored against Southampton in Contes last game - but don't let the facts get in the way.
Why are you going on about Conte in every post you make regardless of the thread?

Found the motd coverage weird. Missed a few key chances of ours but nothing of theirs missed. Said the ref didn't think it was a foul on Emerson yet he clearly did because he watched the video and gave the foul. Then nothing about us after yet we just went above City in the table. It's not the first time they've omitted key moments of ours in a game either.

Forget MOTD. Hollywood wannabes. They probably thought it would be too dull to roll is as another routine Spurs win, so, oh no, let's make it instead about the poor fighting against all odds plucky unlucky Everton underdog, an unfair scoreline, VAR controversies, no end of drama, etc!

Fuckem.

Not being funny but let's be honest, Conte wanted to spend money that just wasnt there. He never mentioned Sarr and Bissouma being key players, heck, being considered players. He just complained about not having the right players. Ange made them important players, he is the 9ne that tried to make Biss and Sarr important players

What some have to remember is how depleted the squad is. The Christmas period isn't about performances, it's about points.

Yes, yesterday was poor after we went 2-0 up, but that was without Maddison, VDV, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentancur, Romero (second half). That is pretty much the spine of our team. Not to mention Solomon, Perisic, Sessegnon etc. That was a huge win against the form side in the league.

We have to win ugly every now and then. We're not going to play beautiful football for 90 minutes every week and even when we probably deserve a win we'll lose (West Ham and Villa). That's just the nature of football. Everton will feel hard done by, but I'd prefer the 3 points with everyone around us dropping points.

4 points off top spot at Christmas. That is bloody amazing given it's Ange's first season AND the injuries and suspensions.

Today was a winning feeling I felt watching us at the end under Conte , happy with the points but very little enjoyment in the process . For me this was our worst performance of the season , we looked leggy and clueless from the half hour mark till the final whistle . Johnson looked like an extra from ‘Platoon ‘ the way we defended our right hand side was Sunday league stuff , the room we gave them was quite incredible and it was so easy to open us up , my concern was we didn’t try and stay compact and break on them . We will have better days ahead but whilst we are wheeling out some of the second string we shouldn’t ask of them to play a system that clearly doesn’t suit them . I love Ange's style of football but you can’t polish a turd .
No - we shouldn't be changing the system. Well, we won't be changing the system but every single player out there should be on the same page with what Ange wants to do. Ange won't change his philosophy but inevitably, some players will ultimately be changing clubs.

We have the age old conflict between those delighted with a win and baffled at others who look to performance rather than result and are less than delighted.

I tend to be with the latter and the dispiriting thing about the Everton game is the thought 'How are we going to get through to February with this team & stay in touch with top 4' ?

With Romero out the defence goes to pieces . Things are so bad that Ange actually makes a compromise...Vic kicks long. Put simply, without Romero, playing out from the back is simply too dangerous...Ange.ball abandoned....though we still get mad overloads against us as oppo forwards rush in. Famously vs Everton a 3 vs 2 at the death when we are defending a one goal lead.
Pretty crazy imo.

Udogie back will help and we're hoping for transfer action, we are still in a good place on the table..but that was a grim performance on some levels and a warning about life before Feb.

Oh and a final point. Didn't Danjuma look good. Going straight at defenders causing mayhem. Exactly what we want from Johnson. Haha get Danjuma in !

I'm not worried at all. 90% of our issues are personnel ones.

There's not a lot we can do about it apart from get through the next 2 (possibly also Burnley) and then hope either some transfers are completed and or some of the injured lads are back for United.

Totally agree.

And ill add there was some real sexy football played in the first half an hour, none of it showed in any highlights package.

Was at the game, and one stage we had three backheels come off down the left, with Emerson and Sarr involved.....was a thing of beauty, was in the East stand looking right down on it....

We were game of day on sky so saw second half and also motd highlights. Everton did have some chances but the way some were describing It on here yesterday I was expecting a complete back to walls job from 20 mins on. Yea we have played better this season but Everton are on a great run and full of confidence. We played the full 2nd half with a backline of dier, Davies, Emerson and Porro with skipp in front of them. That's mid table level at best (except Porro obviously). Take the 3 points and move on only remembering the game when we see season highlights where they show Vicarios late save on Danjuma.

Oh yes that first period of the game we were playing some scintillating stuff.

I see one or two mentioning Conte and winning like that. It's completely different. We still tried to play the "Ange" way. We just had players less suited to it or in unnatural positions, as well as Everton constantly pressing. We did try and get a third as the game went on.

It's apples and oranges.

I get that every team feels hard done by when a VAR decision goes against them but blimey not even the most biased deluded scouser can argue that one surely? But yet here they are.

It's amazing to me how everyone is just glossing over our current injury and suspension list.

If that was Arsenal today without Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Rice,, and Odegaard they would be widely praised for such a big result with a depleted squad. Take van Dijk, Konate, Szoboszlai off Liverpool and see how they do.

Our injury problem is so understated.

We were fortunate to come away with 3 points. So what! We need a bit of luck with the crazy amount of injuries we have. All teams get lucky at times during the season, it's the nature of any game.

Anyone else getting annoyed with other managers constantly haranguing the 4th official these days? Dyche yesterday was a joke, barely a minute went past without him bellowing spittle in that direction.
His comments after the game about the disallowed goal and VAR decision were fucking dumb. There's no way anyone can look at that and say it wasn't a foul, or it was soft.
He's a big fan of VAR apparently, but not when used against his team.

My favourite is the OTT sarcastic response as if the decision was so outrageous they cannot believe the injustice of it being given.

Exaggerated shakes of the head, numerous eye rolls, a couple of forehead slaps, manic laughing, dancing back and forth to the bench and touchline, looking up at no one in particular in the stands as if to say "you get where Im coming from, right?" All finished with looking back out towards the pitch with hands on hips, puffed out chest and multiple head shakes.

I think it's called having a klippety.

We're navigating our way through murky waters right now. We've had some diabolical luck that has cost us dear, but we got a slice of good luck v Everton and I'll happily take that. Please God we get some business done early in Jan and we don't have Udogie and Bissouma make the AFCON final. Everyone around us faltered but we picked up 3. COYS!!

Not wrong. I was watching Dyche and wondering what was going on internally for the fourth official - “just let me remain calm and block out this sh*t’ead”. Like an ejected drunk digging out a bouncer …
