This game is huge for us. I've got an extraordinary dislike for Liverpool, not least because I know so many fans who are all very smug that they have "won the lot" in recent years.

When Klopp and Poch first started at Liverpool and Spurs we were on a similar transformation trajectory, excited by the brave football but not immediately getting the results. Compared to being not that bothered by City and Chelsea buying themselves into silverware, it was painful to watch Liverpool make the step up to winning the big trophies whereas we crumbled at the final hurdles under Poch, in particular the CL final.

I'm praying that Ange can help us bridge the gap to them, and if we can win this game then hallelujah that's a great step forward.

Yeh we’ve not had many good ones against them. We played OK against them last year and we’re obviously unlucky. We also had a decent game against them with Ndombele and Winks in the midfield.

We’re obviously a different team now completely. They need to fear us as much as we do them. Think it’ll be a great game.

The recent history is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

We're a completely different proposition under Agne.
I absolutely acknowledge we are a different proposition now under Ange and playing some great football that will give them troubles. And I am normally not one to ever think about the fixture history...

But in this case with Klopp and Salah and VVD and some of the signings they've made clicking into gear, it just feels a different test than Arsenal was. I'm not sure we're ready yet but I am so ready to be pleasantly surprised.

I do think it will be 2-4 or 3-4 something crazy. I would be much more bullish if I thought we could limit the chances we will concede to them

Would love a scrappy 1-0 win scored in the 96th min under very dubious decisions just to send that goofy monkey spanking Deirdre lookalike Klopp over the edge.

Will be interesting to see their lineup today. I like that they have a midweek game.

We need to go three at the back for this one with Emerson at right wing back to give us more defensive security and Hojbjerg beside Bisouma working as a double pivot in front of them. Maddison ahead of those two with Son and Kulusevski playing as narrow wing forwards making the runs for Maddison to feed.
Nah not really but don't you miss the old days when we had pages and pages of this stuff. 😊

It's been 'a thing' for a few years now. Klopp was known for it at Dortmund so it's hardly new. Hipster terminology though like xG, xA and all that stuff.
Ralf Rangnick developed it after being inspired by Dynamo Kiev apparently. Still doesn't explain the name though.

Was looking forward to an evening game, hoping on the train up to london.

I've just found out there is a train strike. Piss off🤬

I don't feel as hopeful about this fixture as I did about Arsenal...

When I think of playing Pool, I can't think of a time we've shown up recently. And now that I've looked back, we haven't won a fixture against them since they signed VVD. 3 draws, 9 losses

I'd be content with a well-played draw this early in the season. Absolutely over the moon if we won
I can think of numerous games where we out played them yet they scored lucky goals and we bombed chances.

I even think it started in the 1980s with IFK Göteborg - coached by none other then Sven-Goran Eriksson. It was called Forechecking and the basic idea came over from Ice Hockey.
Each incarnation of the concept moved the press higher up the pitch. Whereas at first a team regrouped itself and then collectively moved forward to press, the Gegenpress philosophy calls for immediate pressing the instant the ball is lost, by all players, wherever they are on the pitch, and let the regrouping sort itself out.

I'm getting married on Saturday - and I'll be giving my speech around half time.

The father of the bride is a Liverpool fan. As is a groomsman.

Praying that I have a good update before I stand up in order to get a couple of digs in.

We can get at their defense for sure, but I don't think we'll be very effective to exploit that weakness if Maddison is out. There's no creativity without him. Another chance for goals would have been crosses from Perisic onto Richy's head but that option is also not at our disposal currently.

We need to find a way to score goals without Maddison

Hate these games. My wife is a huge Pool fan. And ever since we have been together Spurs havent won. She is also the world’s kindest and sweetest human being. And hates it more than me, ‘cos it upsets her that I get bummed when we always lose. She’d literally be the only Liverpool supporter in the world who’d probably be happy if they lost, just to see me happy as she feels it’s her fault we always lose. Bless.

But when not playing us… man, I thought my temper was bad when our boys play shite. She tears them myriad new assholes. But then again she’s a fighting Fraser… so, ‘‘tis in her blood! 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️

Definitely going to be a high scoring one. Liverpool has an elite attack, with elite playmakers behind them. We leave space in behind and can get hit on the counter. Their defense is pretty vulnerable, and I don’t see their midfield being able to dominate enough to stifle our progressions.

Prediction: a dull 0-0.

This match screams 3-1 to pool, they will hit us on the counter but we will still look good. Plus I just have a gut feeling that Szabzoli will score an absolute screamer from like 35 out.

It will only be a small bump in the road in our campaign, we are still building

Salah, Diaz, Darwin are the best forward line in the league unfortunately.
And still have Jota as a backup…

will be a tough game for sure with their gegenpress against our play from the back.

need to be at our very beat to get something out of this one.

Better than Haaland, Alvarez, Doku, Foden, Silva? Dont think so.

They are very good though. Probably a tougher test than Arsenal for us

Is Maddison out then?
