Haven't we pretty much done that?

Brentford, Fulham, Burnley, Sheffield United and Arsenal. Only the 2-0 wins against Utd and Bournemouth where we didn't.
We scored first at Brentford. But yeah pretty much. Maybe the first goal on Saturday won’t be that critical.

Think we will create more against them but their attack is very good this season, could be another cracking game but hopefully with home advantage we will get the win.

I feel like Ange's impact on the league is a bit like Klopp's although Ange has turned our style of play and results around immediately, Klopp certainly turned Liverpool's style of play around from that very first game against us but it took him a while for the results to level out once he'd been able to make some important signings.

This game is huge for us. I've got an extraordinary dislike for Liverpool, not least because I know so many fans who are all very smug that they have "won the lot" in recent years.

When Klopp and Poch first started at Liverpool and Spurs we were on a similar transformation trajectory, excited by the brave football but not immediately getting the results. Compared to being not that bothered by City and Chelsea buying themselves into silverware, it was painful to watch Liverpool make the step up to winning the big trophies whereas we crumbled at the final hurdles under Poch, in particular the CL final.

I'm praying that Ange can help us bridge the gap to them, and if we can win this game then hallelujah that's a great step forward.

When they bought Allison & VVD that was the catalyst

Ah yeah my mistake - the Romero header early on.

I can't call how it's gonna go Saturday. Looking forward to it either way!

Hate this fixture with a passion.

It's definitely our most cursed in recent years.

This. I always hate this fixture not because I think despite us being able to match them in most games, somehow they will always get fucking lucky in some goals or decisions against us and we had no way back.

I want a good 3-goal thrashing of them at home to exorcise all previous demons/curses/ghosts once and for all.

I'd love that to mate, but can't see it. If we win it will be marginal.

Expecting little, hoping for more. Just want us to give a good account of ourselves again. If we do then the chances we get something increase.

I have to disagree.

The reason they havent looked assumes at times is simply because the new players are adjusting.

Just like the way we have conceded some chances. New players are adapting.

I caught some of their game last night and they are starting to get back to the level they had been at.

Their midfield is up there now, which had been the problem.

Szoboszlai is absolute class.
Endo is doing a very solid job at DM.
Gravenberch seems to be fittng in well too.

Their attacking line has so many options and even Nunez is scoring huge goals now.

The reason their defence looked poor was because the midfield couldnt maintain good Energy and they got exposed. That is improving game by game.

They will finish above Arsenal easily for me. They may even push City to the line again.

If we lose, we shouldnt be too down as this is the second best team in the league and we have a way to go.

Having said that, we will go toe-to-toe with them

I agree with what you’re saying about the reason they were so weak defensively for a long time being their midfield being unable to maintain energy, but I have to disagree with Endo doing a solid job. He’s played a total of 90 premier league minutes spread across 4 games, gravenverch even less, so the jury is well and truly out on those two. Their preferred option so far has been Jones and he looks anonymous when played.

The reason they have picked it up lately is because of the quality of team they’ve faced and their fantastic forward line, and even then they’ve conceded chances at ease.

Newcastle should’ve been out of sight against ten men, Villa caused them problems in behind despite playing very poorly (credit to liverpool) and Trent having one of the performances of the season. Wolves and West Ham are and should be bankers, and even then if wolves had a recognised striker they’d have gone 2-0 up before the break. (Cunha missed a sitter)

I feel like our big test was last week against arsenal and we came through with flying colours for the most part, this is more of a test for them than it is for us imo because although they’ve picked up a lot of points, their opponents have been easier than ours with only chelsea (with their own problems) and newcastle (who should never have let them back into the game) recognised top teams.

They’re a good team but they’ll be a long way off of city, along with us and arsenal. Arsenal are the more complete team (with everyone fit) for me and with us at home I’m convinced we can match Liverpool’s intensity and come away with a good result.

Szobozslai is fantastic though, I’ll give you that.

Good post. Yeah Jones is the weak link in their midfield and why I think we can over power them in there.

What I love about Ange is his mental approach which is clearly having a massive affect on the players.

Yes we all know we're playing a more free flowing, ambitious style of football but its the belief he's giving them to play this way, no fear etc, which is making all the difference.

This is why I'm ignoring recent history with them and focusing on the significant influence Agne is having instead.

I'm bang up for this fixture, were as previously I was dreading it.

With Ange's approach, this is going to be the forecast whenever we play the best teams - City, Pool, Arse, especially away - at least until the team matures. And I love it! No more deadly dull attempts to just defend and maybe steal something. And win, lose or draw the team grows.
