Wonder what the XG was, the difference last season was immense and we were very lucky, tonight we were well in control for the majority.
Well, they had a penalty yeh. But we did defend well. Though Hugo did have to make two great saves.

Last season xG was 0.42 vs 3.25. Which if taking the Pen always is about 2.50

Today was 0.76 v 1.66

I think we did defend better today than last season. Though, I think it was only a patch of around 20 mins in the first half we really suffered against Man city, and was a bit ñast ditch at times. Today it was controlled. I think the main difference though, is we attacked much better, and that creates a problem, as city can't attack with the same confidence.

The truth is our results against city tend to be quite desperate before today, but to the point that it is beyond pure luck that we seem to have a habit against them, Even under Poch while our record read 4 wins 2 draws 7 losses, it's almost always close. Mind, this city team isn't a patch on what it was. Even in 2019/2020 they've seemed to slow down a little bit. City before was just waves and waves of quick incisive attacking. I haven't seen city do that consistently for some time, and when they do do it they seem to fall apart defensively (see our 4-3 loss in the CL).

I stopped watching after the Kane interview, has Jose made a comment about Sterling being fit to play?

Had to watch second half on delay. Wow what a phenomenal performance. Really mature and dare I say it like a team that looks like it wants to win things

Hjojberg and Sissoko were incredible in the middle. Kane obvs but Dier keeps getting better. Hope Toby isn’t too bad

So impressed with us. Fuck it if they had loads of the possession, that was such a strong showing

All of a sudden 3 clean sheets in 9 league games. Doesn't look nearly as bad now!
Joint best record in the league and the other teams we share it with are yet to play. Mind, we have had one of the easiest run of games in the league. It's a very good start, but we will know better where we stand in the next few weeks. Having said that, it's likely post this run we will also be in a false position, so we will see.

This game represents the meaning of cynicism, 2 shots on target 2 goals. Fantastic defensive performance too, they had the control of the ball but 0 clear chances, i don’t remember any remarkable saves from Hugo.

Now it’s Chelsea turn....

Despite no goal involvement I think Bergwijn was fantastic today. Possibly even his best game for us.
I thought he did well. I thought he also ran out of steam and was running on empty for at least 20 minutes before he came off. Decent performance, but he can do better. I think the main reason he started was he is a more natural fit on the left than our other options, and we didn't want Son v Walker and felt he could expose their left side much more effectively than their right.

Jose really has changed like he said. It's very much about the team and not him nowadays
Don't think he's changed as much as he's just found himself again.

Especially at United, he just couldn't get a hold of the dressing room and get everyone in the club pulling in the same direction. He's had players more interested in social media than working on weaknesses, he's had physios disobey him and talk behind his back with players, he's had scouts and directors of football go against his player suggestions and he's felt more like an outsider.

Jose needs (like most coaches) everyone to buy into the methods and pull in the same direction. He needs the board above him to listen and not go against his requests and he needs players to make sacrifices.

When he gets those components he can do his job extremely well, as soon as parts start to fall apart he loses patience and becomes evidently frustrated because he knows it's the key to success.

Ffs a Spurs win has already made these pundits' lives so difficult. I fear for them if we really do win the damn thing.

Not great to lose him but it could be the start of something great with Rodon. Let's see how he takes the chance.
I mean, he looked very energetic when he came on. Unfortunately, it is not an ideal run of games to allow a new player to settle in. Sanchez had one or two very poor games, but he is good enough for the level it wouldn't be a surprise to see him back. Is Tanganga fit? I'm not sure Jose really trusts him but we definitely need an extra defensive body for the Europa league now.
