Unfortunately today's football is about finances staying high up the Premier League and the income it provides plus getting into CL if possible , we are not going to win the PL or CL we don't have enough money to buy those trophies.

In 2016 Juventus paid a reported £81 million for Higuain two years later he has now gone on loan to AC Milan for a reported £16 million with Juventus buying Ronaldo in for a reported £105 million, fans have to be realistic Spurs cannot compete with that sort of spending or that done by the likes of Man U & City.
Of course we are not going to win those trophies that's an easy one I think even our manager has stopped saying about competing for titles etc it just isn't going to happen.

It would've been great to say that this was two heavyweight contenders slugging it out in a top of the table clash with City coming out of it as narrow victors....but it wasn't. In reality it was a very subdued and unusually quiet Man City against a Spurs side that seemed to be selected for dogged defending and physical presence rather than attacking flair. Substitutions made maybe too late allowed our attack to flicker into life but all in all it was a respectable one nil loss and we move on. It could have been a lot, lot worse.

An alternative view: It was a very important match for both sides and I saw two very good teams who, at times played some very good football. Both made defensive errors leading to goal scoring opportunities that were missed and both created a couple of good chances which they failed to score from. City got the decisive goal. On another day Marhez would have missed, Harry's touch when breaking through would have been and he would have scored and Lamela would have put his chance away and we would have won. I am gutted but not overly despondent with the result although it wasn't what I had hoped for and felt we could achieve. I saw promise of things to come with our 2nd half performance. I don't think it's looking at things through rose coloured glasses. As the season is progressing, I see improvement each week and still hope we will we start scoring again and remain in the mix for a top 4 finish.

Personally I don't think we deserved anything from the game city should have won by a lot more and apart from a late 20 min spell which yes lamela fucked up we deserved nothing.

Personally I don't think we deserve anything ever and we should all just fuck off and die. Sorry if any of you happy clappers can't deal with my reality-based support structures.

Here's the Carragher/Neville debate:

https://www.skysports.com/football/...nd-jamie-carragher-in-heated-tottenham-debate

As it happened I agree with Carragher....in tens years time we will look back on this 4-5 year period under Poch and see it for the missed opportunity it was.

I'm glad neither you or Carragher are anywhere near a cheque book. His attitute is the personal and global debt crisis in one gobby diatribe.

I want us to spend more money, but we need to buy the right players. Klopp only started spending any money at all last summer. They have bought well. I won't defend us spending no money, but it needs to be spent correctly. United have spent hideous amounts of cash poorly.

We have neither the global brand identity [and therefore revenue] of the other big teams. This is an issue. With the NFL, Nike and many other tactics Levy is clearly marketing us the dormant giant in football, the USA. Asia and Africa has happened and they are both largely red.

A decent chunk of Liverpool's investment came from selling their best player - people would lose it if we did that.

It's our final ball and finishing that has let us down, which is due to our attackers not being settled as a unit due to untimely injuries or loss of form. I saw green shoots of recovery last night in our team, which is more than can be said of the pitch.

I find your attitude strange and internally inconsistent. We have a net spend of 29mm over 5 years - we will never win anything if we continue as we are. I'm 30 - we have won one major trophy in my lifetime and that was 27 years ago - we have some great players and a great manager but just like under redknapp we have blinked again when it matters and are left with an uphill struggle. If we want to win the title next year we need to spend in jan and give the new players 6 months to bed in. Can't see it happening.

Good post, there is little ambiton from the owners to win the title, this has been shown time and again over many years, if they can get CL and invest that in property they have won.

So, you missed the two league cups then? The one against Chelsea was especially pleasant.

You are so fucked up and blinded of your a seemingly hatred Sissoko that you post this crap. Not the most talented footballer granted, but his performance in this match like against West Ham, was very acceptable by any standard.
You know, there are ways to express what you just said without having to resort to language like that. It’s offensive and hateful. I may disagree with someone’s post but if I say something I try my best to refrain from being disrespectful.

Where's Dele's new contract?
Where's Eriksen's new contract?
Where's the squad investment to allow us to push on and win things which Poch and others will have been assured of when they signed their contracts?

If you think all is well in the camp, you're deluding yourself.
Dele signed til 2024 I believe.

Or did I deludedly imagine that?

I was there for the Chelsea one - but the league cup is not a major trophy.
Erm...yes it is. Gets you in Europe and every thing. That's the problem. Spurs fans for reasons I can't fathom believe that the league cup is beneath us. It's not and seeing as we havent won Jack shit in ages it most certainly is a major trophy.

No it isn't - and not a single club considers it as such. Neither do any players. That's why they mostly play their reserves and youth players in it.
