Just home from the game and am still buzzing, best atmosphere for years the place was absolutely rocking.
Everyone was a positive, Richarlison has to work on getting the ball to stick to his feet and hold it up for runners instead of tricky flicks that don't come off but he'll get there.
Wish I had the same confidence that Richarlison will get there but I'm seriously underwhelmed by him as I am with the 2 players either side of him. Fortunately, unlike Brentford the Utd forward line isn't impressing either.

Re-watching the game, and I'm not seeing that UTD were the better team in the first half, not even sure they had the better chances
I thought the game swung a little in that first half.

We came out with intent and tried to push them back but then they got a couple of counters and forced us back a bit. Not necesarily into a lot block but we struggled a bit to work the ball into the final third.

They had a couple of decent but not really clear chances. Then Porro hit the bar and that seemed to galvanise us and the rest of the half was a little bit end to end without the clear chances.á

But second half, I thought we strangled them. They got a couple of counters and free-kicks but nothing really dangerous.

They really struggled as our Energy increased and I thought we overran them a lot.

For the first time in a couple of years I actually feel something watching Spurs play football again. My heart is pumping with every movement and kick of the ball. Thank you Ange for bringing my love of this game back.

Really entertaining game and for me that’s the most important thing, I’m looking forward to watching us again. On the other hand we got lucky in the first half they missed 2/3 sitters early on. All in all a good result but we need to improve defensively going forward.

Rewatched eth post match, hahahahaha. So so bitter and salty, you love to see it. Such a bad loser, arrogant and without self awareness. The United disease runs through his veins hahahaha. Wanker.

Man Utd have never been able to take losing. The meltdown is beautiful. And so satisfying to be the ones dishing it out again. Only 3 years or so since we dicked them 6-1 at their shed.

People have tried to explain it to me in the past. I now just ignore it's something that even exists in football.
.xG is quite easy to understand if you have the patience to understand it. It's just common sense but gets readily dismissed by the average fan.

The two chances that hit the woodwork for Spurs were a shot from the edge of the box and a massive deflection from a cross from near the by-line. The percentage chance of those hitting the back of the net compared with two free headers from the six yard line for Man U will be relatively low.

I dismiss it mainly because if I've watched a game I will know which team created the better chances and overall whether the result is indicative of the football played by both teams....I don't need a decimal number to tell me that.

I can understand it's usefulness for historical football analysis, or for analysis of a game that hasn't been watched, but as a Spurs fan who watches all Spurs games, the xG stat for our matches is rather useless to me.

I get your reasoning and you are right that is what they do but what I think it doesn't take into account is the goalkeeper's likelihood of saving it, in each case hitting the bar and post the keeper was beaten hands down whereas the United "should have scored" chances the keeper was in position prepared for the shot/header.
That's the sense of how close it came you get just following the game rather than dryly looking at individual instances.

The next 48 hours will concentrate on them not getting a penalty, while ignoring the fact we should have had one. All it does is pile more pressure on refs and takes the focus off of them pissing millions of pounds up the wall on players yet again.

Son was excellent 2nd half. Richarlison did ok
I thought he was below par myself, have the ball away a few times and just didn’t have that killer instinct that he used to have. I’m comparing him to his former self though, I suppose on its own merits it was an ok performance.

Really enjoyed this afternoon - especially the second half. Crowd were on top form and it's fun to play without too much expectation.

Still a lot of work to be done, we gave united far too many opportunities to score but the foundations of what Ange's building look exciting.
💯 we need that statement signing up top now.

Fantastisk game! Especially second half. Love to watch it. And can’t belive how fast he has implemented his system!
I belive beating Manchester United will give the players even more belief in Ange and his system. They can se its working against fairly good opposition. He is after all unproven in PL.

Solid game, even better result.

not getting ahead of myself as United had lots of better chances, some fantastic saves from our keeper, awful misses etc

a very poor United team getting found out though and the big positive is that we are seeing a very different spurs team play.

some brilliant individual performances, also seems romaro maybe a little calmer with added responsibility, Porro woth his best defensive display for us too, still a few bits there but overal much improved.

definitely got the excitment back, just need another CB, at least now, of the ITK of three more in and a bunch going, would set us up well for domestic challenges.

Snap, I am buzzing with our football. Having to play once a week is just a downer as I have to wait a whole week to be entertained by our football.

In the voice of "Maximus Decimus Meridius" are you not entertained 😜

I think the foul on romero was much more of a penalty than his hand getting hit from a 2 yard piledriver while he's sliding. From one of the angles shown romero even has his foot kicked, it's not just being outmuscled shoulder to shoulder.

Edit - I don't think romero handball was a penalty but I'm surprised ref didn't give it because it was against united
