Their not really a pot 4 team though, they are good enough to be pot 3 or even 2.

Gendouzi is capablable more than capable. He is a regular international and is one of Marseilles best players. The fact that Arsenal let go of him as a 20 year old still developing doesn't make him not an excellent player now.
I'd definitely have him over El Neny and Lokonga as a centre mid option if I was an Arsenal fan.

Yes you’re right - We were starting to build pressure -let’s not forget son was highly likely to score but was taken out we were getting on top. For me at no point did I ever feel we were going to lose.
mate we had only played 3 bloody minutes when he got sent off I don't think anyone can say based on that how the game would have progressed or that we had turned a corner after an insipid first half but you would have expected some sort of pick up in performance - I didn't feel we would get beat either but that was more down to the opposition being bang average rather than us being particularly good

I mean he didn't really do much for someone who was playing as the most forward midfielder mind. I think he had a game that showed his abilities but not a particularly effective one.

such was the malaise of the game in the first half he did very little but was still probably the best player on the pitch along with the guy who got sent off

I just noticed that we have two away games in a row in the CL - anyone know why? normally it is home and away alternating. Seems the case with all CL teams actually.

I'm not sure you can have all teams playing home then away (or away then home) every game.

So some teams will have back to back home or away games

First time I've seen that mentioned but yes yes yes... my god he was so bad and fell for every tiny little thing the Marseille players we're falling over for.

We even had to check his nationality at one point to see what league he came from (Slovenian league). Couldn't believe he reffed the Europa league final last year o_O
It was that final that set off alarm bells, I think the players had been warned not to antagonize him !! At one stage we completely changed how we challenged the opposition, as they were rolling around. WHAT a surprise when we scored they suddenly stopped rolling around, I actually feel that that fact was lost on him

It's been like that for ages. Why? I don't know.

Complete and utter fluke that worked out ???? Far enough if we had fucking Arteta in charge but do you think Antonio Conte flukes many things?

It's not even that strange. We were a man up and likely to win the game even at 0-0. What would have been completely fucking mental was what Arteta did against Utd and go gung ho and leave themselves open on the break, imagine if Conte did that? Went balls to the wall at 0-0 and we lose because the counter the fuck out of us, you'd all be calling for his head for a crazy decision..

He brought Tanganga and Davies on to A) Keep Romero and Lenglet as fresh as possible for City and B) To freshen up the wide centre backs and bring more energy going forward. The wide centre backs when going forward overlap alot and bring alot to us creating space going forward, Davies literally overlapped Perisic to create him space to put the cross in for Richarlisons first goal.

I swear to god some of you lot just watch football and have no idea whats going on half the time. It's actually baffling how many of our own fans don't understand tactics, personnel or even how we play.

Someone posted a great post in the Conte thread the other day explaining in excellent detail how we set up like we do and why. We have a crazy low xg against us meaning we defend VERY well and limit teams to long range shots mostly and create VERY good chances ourselves, might not always be many, but they're very good chances.

Im not an expert by any means but if more people watched football (Not just spurs) we wouldn't get so many silly comments like this.
Great post. But, in my defense I do actually understand what is going on, and was being partially facetious. In a meta kinda way. Look at the match thread…. Nearly every poster was caught off guard by the change. So, you Monday morning quarterback lecture looks great now we won. If we hadn’t, you wouldn’t have posted the above.

So, yeah. I take offense to the “silly comment” reference. That’s a little unfair and patronizing all things being equal. Maybe take a moment and read through all my posts before accusing me of not understanding how we play, or for that matter the notion of watching other games.

I mean, FFS, even the commentators at the time were a little confused by the change.

We were showing a little more urgency and The through ball to Son was the result. You get a feeling it was going to get better-I don’ care it was only 3 minutes. Conte sent them out early after the break- I was expecting a reaction. . To be fair, it couldn’t have been worse than the first half.

I don't think Kane is in good form. You have to look passed just his goals. Honestly you've watched Kane this season and think he's playing well? Not for me.

He had a few chances yesterday and fluffed them. His goal against Forest was scuffed. Missed a penalty. Scored a tap in against Fulham. Wow. By his own standards he's not playing well. I think both him and Son are out of form but Son is by far the worst, he's been horrendous.
Agreed, most of his goals have been headers and that weird scuffed shot against forest. He isn’t striker they ball well at all, his shooting seems really off.

Defensively we are sound but does need all players to contribute . Teams have learned to stop our quick turn over of the ball. The outlet, wide Chanels are blocked. Royal was in grest positions but he was not found. We are a little stubborn at the moment and need to losen up and get creative.

Anyone know what that weird little chicken dance Richarlison does as part of his goal celebration is all about?

Thanks for that but I still don't know why he's chosen to celebrate his goals by walking like a pigeon. Don't anyone get me wrong, I do find it amusing and I hope he does it loads of times this season, but it is quite a weird way to celebrate a goal. Why a pigeon?

Not sure why he chose it, bet he just copied the dance from a small band back in Brazil and it caught on.

This is probably the group, but after Richarlison got them more notice with his celebration

I believe it was because in ?? they said he looked like a pigeon, or bird, because of his nose, so he embraced it. I love it. Turned what I assume was a negative into a positive. Shows he has a sense of humour, and doesn't take himself too seriously.

Thanks Barry. I don't care WTF he looks like if he can give us a couple of goals like that every match. ?‍♂️
