All this American football style video replay stuff is shit. Also, this stuff about 'deserving' to win or not is bollocks. You win if you score more than the opposition. We were a tenuous decision away from winning.

Hang on am I losing my mind. Why is the line drawn to Emerson's head?????? If someone scores a goal with their head but their right leg is off it'll get flagged.

The only decision to make was whether Emerson was off from the first ball.

Telling you now that is an absolute var fuck up surely?? Or am I not thinking straight

It's where the ball is

No. Direction of ball is not relevant - it’s the position of Kane when the ball is played.

And the touch by the defender has to be intentional- in this case the ball hit the defender. You could argue he tried to play it, but it’s not a certainty.
Isn't the law only about playing the ball forward?

It's a correct call from VAR based on the unbelievably stupid rules that have been put in place

And that's why football feels hollow at the moment...regardless of how boring our manager is

Not relevant to offsides.
It's either on or off. It's never been about clear and obvious, but people keep bringing it up for some reason
True but to me that one tonight the lines didn’t even look offside ? Like not so much clear and obvious but it just wasn’t actually offside ?‍♂️

I stand corrected- apparently the ball doesn’t have to be played forward to be offside. What matters is the ”intention” of the defender deflecting it to the receiver. Very strange, if you ask me. What does any intention have to do with it, and how is it determined?

UEFA making sure that it’s all go for the final round in the group for that sweet tv viewership

Whilst im not happy about the VAR, the fact it was a draw was a) a fair result and b) our own doing - we played for 45 mins. Imagine if we played for 90

I am pretty sure, by the letter of the law, it was offside.

It looked like Var measured Kane with the ball and when it was played Kane was ahead of the ball. That is the definition of offside. The contact with the defender is irrelevant since he did not intentionally play it, and the direction of the ball from Royal is also irrelevant. It where Kane was when the ball was played.

Interesting that it’s taken the part of the body that Emerson connected with the ball as opposed to the rest of his body that has ahead of Kane

We didn't deserve to win.. The decision or the late showing shouldn't change anyone's view on the quality of our play recently.

We should have walked this group, literally couldn't have hand picked an easier one.

This **** referee has prior. Did the same to Portugal without VAR and ended up having to apologise to them.

Surely not a good look for a police man to be taking bribes

The problem with this VAR is in that close situations it should not interfer with the decisions on the pitch as I can not see how the technology can really guarantuee to stop the game exactly when the ball is played and how the lines really are. Boggling how they still want to force to see something.

That said... we looked way better with someone on the pitch who made runs, leaves the system, demands the ball, adds pace, delivers crosses and had some fire. Well done Bryan and he should get a run in that team now even if it breaks Contes heart if its not the perfect player to play alongside Royal. Wouldnt even be surprised if Sarr or Spence could acutally make such an influence from the bench either but we will probably never know.

The other two subs, have laugh Tony.

Well luckily I am about 95% fuming about var and can't be bothered to get worked up by how bang average we were most of the match. Thank you var ?

Why is no-one in the studio not mentioning the ball going backwards?
Does this matter? Serious question. Half the people in this thread obsessing about the direction of the headed pass but the only relevant point is whether Kane is ahead of the ball or not
