For better or worse, this is what VAR measured in a still shot with lines, and Kane was inches in front of the ball. But watching it again and again, I still don't see it conclusively that Kane was ahead.

That's just goal line technology though, surely? I've got no issue with that.
Maybe I’m stupid, but I still see a massive grey area there. Do you have to make an attempt to play the ball with your feet or head? No sane defender in this defenders situation would not make an attempt to play the ball out to a corner in that situation.
I agree with that. First half was very poor but I don't agree with the "we were shit for 70 mins" narrative. Second half we gave it a good go, Dier of all people could have had a hat trick lolWe were poor first half, good second half.
Yup. Haven’t really celebrated a goal in years. A goal is rather a slow and steady rising of the mood that only really settles a few minutes after the opposing team kick-off.I rarely celebrate goals anymore as you just never know what VAR will do. The way VAR is used Is absolutely horrible and drain the joy and passion out off the game.
What this thread proves is that a lot of people don't understand the offside rule.
The goal was marginally offside and was called as such.
You can argue that three minutes of checking a marginal decision isn't the spirit of the game but as both the offside and var rules stand at the moment it was the correct call.
Still fucking hurts though.
Abysmal for about an hour - got just about what we deserved in the end!Abysmal performance, no matter how to look at it..Conte looked fed up most the game.
In the which case you can see why they’ve given it offside. What we need to remember is that the viewing we see can be distorted whereas VAR will assess multiple angles that we don’t get to see which is this case shows it was offside.
All I’m wondering is the backwards and new phase bit, I have no problem with the decision if that is all rendered uselessOverall though we got drawn in the easiest CL group we could’ve hoped for pre draw. So far we really haven’t done enough to deserve to be going through. To deserve it now we need to go and not get beat away at a team 5th in the French league. For a PL Top4 club that should be doable, if we can’t we’re clearly not worthy of still being in this tournament.
Yes, agreed. But from the pictures I saw it wasn't clear.
I want to know what happened to semi-automated offside in the group stages. The image that shows is the clearest way to see. But we get lines instead this time. Why?I don't know. @cwy21 will have the answers.
It's one of them mate. Feels very harsh and I feel if it's that tight and takes that long it means they aren't sure. In that case the goal should stand imo.In the which case you can see why they’ve given it offside. Docherty is going to look at the rule book apparently. Fly meet wall.
Yeah, I am trying to calmly explain the laws and getting disagrees from people who clearly don’t know or understand the law.@glacierSpurs what are you disagreeing with? They are the laws of the game mate. They might be stupid and make little sense, but none the less they are the laws.
Because it’s Hargreaves hoddle and some other car, they don’t have a clue
Love your optimism wish I had it right now it's been beaten out of me this season.Well, I am holding out hope based on the last 30 odd minutes and getting fcked by VAR that we might actually manage to show a bit of anger in our next game.
