It’s a blessing in disguise but Levy will want to extract his pound of flesh.

We must’ve been up there for bookies favourites. Wonder what the prize money was + impact to our EU coefficient?

So we have a massive covid outbreak and are forced to postpone not just for our own health, but for the health of fans, officials and the Rennes squad. In response, Rennes put out a tone-deaf, classless statement accusing us of a lack of fair play then subsequently refuse 5 new dates and the offer of playing in France.

UEFA’s response is to blame us and throw us out. Disgusting decision and a decision that Spurs 100% will not accept lightly.

Tbf, in a way, it serves us right for being in a position where we needed to win our last group game to qualify.
It is a shame as it was certainly a winnable trophy, but on the flip side, it's going to be a blessing from a fixture congestion stand point.
The statement very deliberately states we have forfeited the fixture, so I guess we won't have any come back or compensation, and I guess could even face a fine if Uefa are feeling particularly twattish

Just wait until someone in the CL does the same. Will all be fun and games if it's PSG, Bayern or City that it effects!

Bravo UEFA, describing it as a 'forfeit'.
Next time an affected team should go ahead with it and cause an outbreak within the other club and match officials should they?!
Clowns.

It is unfair and UEFA are a bunch of self aggrandising fools but this is still a good outcome for us. It would have been too much of a slog, particularly as we have three domestic competitions and the fixture back log.

Well less pointless games and more time on the training pitch. Top 4 here we come and cups too :sneaky:

This is awesome news. Hopefully we beat West Ham on Weds and we move into 2022 in a domestic cup semi-final and 1 game a week for most of the rest of the season. The players will get significantly more time on the training pitch with Conte.

UEFA are so anti-English. This wasn't about being able to put out 13 fit players this was about stopping the spread of an uncontrolled outbreak of Covid-19. We did the right thing by asking for a postponement. It was pure opportunism by Rennes saying they didn't agree with the postponement.

Dan Levy will take Rennes and UEFA to the cleaners over this no doubt, and we don't have to play in this competition that we obviously found distracting.

this gives us such a massive advantage for the top 4 now. 3 games postponed until after the Januray window when we will strengthen. No fixture congestion to worry about fitting them in and so much training ground time for Conte.

Not surprised - "lads its UEFA" - and cannot even be bothered to get angry considering the stature of the competition.

The only scandal is that we have not managed to get out of this group. If Chelsea, Liverpool, City had played in this, they would have won it scoring 5 goals in each game.
