So...last 5 premier league games have seen West Brom win 1, draw 1, lose 3.

Exactly the same as Spurs.(n)

Wolves mirror this also. Only one team with worse returns from the last five matches...

Southampton...5 losses.

Of course, varying ability of opponents, and injuries to consider. But not pretty whatever way you look at it.

COYS !!

Spurs win 2-0

Keeping my expectations pragmatically low today.

This has 0-0 all over it, until the last minute of injury time when Serge, distracted by a shiny piece of KitKat foil which has inexplicably blown onto the right channel of the pitch by a fierce winter wind, loses his man and they thump one against the crossbar that bounces on the line until it wobbles in off of Dier’s furious ankle.

Then, realising the terrible significance of the event, Mourinho is spooked into bringing Bale on for the remaining 47 seconds, telling him to sit deep lest they break again and score a second. Mourinho takes further action, instructing Sissoko to play as both auxiliary striker and CDM, knowing that a superior goal difference is often what keeps teams out the bottom three in April.

The plan almost works when Sissoko falls over in the WBA penalty area, but a VAR review correctly rules out any penalty and prescribes a 12 week intense hypnotherapy course to try and cure Sissoko’s abject terror off anything ball related which frequently results in complete muscular dystrophy.

After the result, Dele Alli, at home and unaware of the dark mood about the club will post a sad, frustrated selfie of himself upon discovering his Clash of Clans account has been hacked by the ghost of 1990s prankster Jeremy Beadle, who has reprogrammed Dele’s barbarians to arrange themselves to form the word pissdribble at the foot of his clan’s town hall.

Mourinho interprets this hapless selfie as an act of aggression, claiming in the press conference later that Dele’s disruptive, negative behaviour is the reason Sissoko has gone from a technical playmaker goal machine to a husk of a man in less than six months. Finally realising the full extent of the dark forces working against him, preventing him from being successful at Tottenham, Mourinho bans Dele from all first team activities, while he and Sacramento work on fine tuning their revolutionary 1-1-8-1 formation- the first footballing system that employs both a goal keeper and shadow goalkeeper, with an 8 man midfield and Ben Davies in the advanced, lone CM/CAM role. Mourinho figures that 7 draws in 17 games should definitely keep Tottenham out of the bottom three, and with Harry Kane reconfigured as a CDM, anything is possible

A positive reaction from the players would be a fine start. A sign that things aren't so rotten behind the scenes that it's beyond repair.

Another performance like vs Chelsea etc, then I cannot see how or where the improvement will come from.

I've gone for a spurs win, but it wasn't with any real gusto and it's West Brom not City.

Went for a West Brom win, we looked like an outfit with no fight in them ( bar Lamela) LTO and I fully except Big Sam will have his players well up for this.

West Brom at 6/1 are a backable price too as home advantage means nothing this season, in fact it's probably more a disadvantage.

Dunno where the optimism is coming from considering recent results, but I actually think we win this.

My desire for spurs to do well says we will win but common sense says draw or defeat there has been nothing in our play to make me optimistic .

playing almost certain to be relegated West Brom at home, and I have no expectation of a win, and barely any expectation of a goal.

We will win this reckon 2 or 3 nil! WBA are horrendously bad with a manager in charge who is way passed it. For me this is bit like beating a lower league team in the cup. Like the Sheffield Utd result I’m not sure it will mean too much given the context of the situation unless we follow it up with much improved performances and results in our following games.

A decent win, I think. We need the slightest jolt of confidence before Everton and City. Boy do we need it...

I truly hope we lose tomorrow so Jose can go. I can’t take watching this shitty football and still be losing I mean if we were winning I wouldn’t mind but defending most of the game and still leaking goals? How does that work ?
Totally agree, get this stink out of the club.

I’d love to see us put in a serious performance today - something to show us fans the players really do give a shit and want to turn things around. If we don’t, I think that’s all the answer we need in terms of the behind the scenes feeling. The better teams, when they’ve faced WBA since Christmas, have basically crushed them, whereas struggling teams have been tighter and found it more troublesome.
