Just wondering if anyone had any info on the two friendlies our XI will be playing against Brighton and Nottingham Forest on the 15th and 19th of this month? Obviously the main squad have gone out to South Africa, but I was just wondering if the whole squad have gone there or they have split them up a bit, like they did with the Eusebio cup last year if I remember rightly?

Im out here working for the summer and want to know if they will be worth going to or not!

Any senior player or even the more experienced youth that are left out of the pre season tour to South Africa will obviously feel he's out of the manager's plans.
Think we'll send a very inexperienced side to Algarve and likely struggle.

I agree with you in principle but we have 33 players in the First Team squad plus 24 players in the 'Professional' or 'Reserves' squad (the reserves including both players such as Caulker and 8 of last year's 2nd year academy).

I imagine Spurs will take up to 30 of the first team (excluding King and Sandro who are injured) plus maybe half a dozen others - giving 36 players for the 3 games in South Africa, it cannot be much more or playing time for each player will be too small. That means about 18 of the Professionals plus a few of the Academy to play in Portugal.

According to itk all the rezzies and a few of the youth are in SA; not sure about that, but it is a training camp more than a tournament so anyone who is within a sniff of the first team will be there.

Not much publicity on the Spurs site as yet, but Notts Forest are doing a live commentary this evening on the Spurs v Notts Forest match - unfortunately I will not be in to watch it !

The article says that Spurs X1 includes a number of players with Championship and League 1 experience, but gives no details.

Anyone in the Algarve going to the match ?

Two of the Development squad unlikely to be in the Algarve are Dean Parrett and Adam Smith - the England under 20 squad of which they are part have their own training camp prior to the Under 20 world cup later this month.

Dunno, there might be time for Smith and Parrett to do at least this game before the U20 tournament. If they aren't in Algarve then Ryan Mason isn't likely neither, as he's also been called up for U20 duty after a player pulled out.
