Buying Ade would be a star signing, if he goes and another star striker comes in the squad is no stronger.

I don't understand. I thought Tevez made it pretty clear he wanted to be closer to Argentina. Why would he sign for us or anyone else in England?

I'm sure 'arry would get the best out of him though. Can't see why Citeh would sell to us though.

Italy isn't that close to Argentina either but Milan are still in for him but then thinking about Italy is probably a lot closer culturally to Argentina then any other country in Europe bar Spain.

I'm getting ITK Tweets saying there is ITK from Dragon1 regrading a special player, yet the ITK forum is closed.

You trying to torture us A&C ?

Tevez would be ideal as he will give definitely help us gain more possession in the final third and force errors

Cross that bridge in summer, if we have CL monies to spend.

For now, we should concentrate on getting another striker in. Needs to be a strong striker, who can not only score goals, but more importantly, hold the ball up as well. They need to be like for like with Ade and be able to play with him too.

I listened to 'Arry yesterday on talkshite, saying that we won't be looking to sign anybody, because we have a top top, triffic squad...

Well, it must be quicker to ge to the airport in London than Manchester, or summit...maybe the plane takes 3 seconds les to reach ArgentinaLand

As I said, earlier, if Citeh are prepared to loan one striker to us and pay half his wage :)rofl:), and sell another to us, they have reached a whole new level of arrogance.

We need a first choice centre forward, another Lennon and a reliable back up to Benny please

I think Danny Rose is looking reasonable comfortable at left-back. I certainly don't panic at the prospect of him getting game time.

I think we can do better than Rose, though that's harsh on the young lad when he hasn't played much.

Interestingly enough, Harry's had some kind words to say about 21-yo Jordan Rhodes recently:

“Lee Clark will do really well to hold on to him in the transfer window.

“Four hat-tricks already this season — including four goals at Sheffield Wednesday this month — have made a lot of Premier League clubs take note.

“Goal scoring is a natural talent, it’s not something you can learn. You’re born with it or you’re not and Rhodes was clearly born with it.

“Quick, strong, good in the air and a natural finisher. The only question is whether he can do it in the top flight?

Not exactly a "star name", but after missing out on Wickham, perhaps we're still on the lookout for a young lower-league striker. Huddersfield fans are over the moon about him, "the next Shearer" etc.

I still think Ade is our main striking target in the summer, so the striker in Jan isn't likely to be someone who will demand first-team action immediately. Established big strikers may be out of our price/wage range, or won't be willing to sit on the bench for Ade. And maybe Levy won't want to sanction expensive risky signings until Harry commits/gets his court case done with.

I think the less risky option is a loan, though. Who knows if this kid can score as easily in the PL, much less provide the craft, workrate, and link up play that Adebayor does....

Of course we can do better. He ain't the greatest left-back in the World. But he is young, keen and not making too much fuss...especially as he has been switched from his original position.
If we can get better, cheap, who can either back benny up without whingeing, or displace Benny, but have him happy to stay on the bench, so that we have better than BAE/Rose without a storm brewing, fine, I'm all for it. Just don't see why anyone is worrying about only having Rose on the bench when, to me, he looks like reasonable back-up.

Great display yesterday and showed that Bale can play behind strikers.
It looks like Samba or Cahill for defense but don't disregard Vertonghen.
A South American signing like Tevez, Damaio or Kaka.
Then there's Llorente, Drogba or Torres.

Let's see...

I would love Torres would fit in with our style of play but you think we have a chance?

Marko Marin would be awesome and 'gettable' - could cover both flanks

Then get in a striker who can hold the ball up and we're ready to go

I think Drogba is gettable but whether Chelsea allow him to sign for us in another thing. That post interview with Adebayor was fun! Maybe a hint?

I also think Torres is gettable!

Never seen Marin play but if he can play both wings then it'll be great!

I think the big question isn't whether they are gettable, but whether they are gettable without being compensation for us allowing our major assets to go to the Bridge. Because, as things stand, I can see chelsea playing the old 'you play ball with us, and we'll play ball with you; you don't play ball with us,and you've got no chance' routine, after our emphatic slap-down over Modric.
