Would be a great option to come in as a third striker.. possible game changer from the bench. Good in the air.

I would without any delay if offered Shane Long over Steven Fletcher, take Long. That's if Kane doesn't have a future.

I'm actually going to start missing the leandro rumours if we get linked with anymore lower/mid table toot this window. Just journalists having a laugh at our expense while they link our rivals with the top guys.

Controversial opinion: Fletcher would be a very good signing for us if we could get him for <8m.

I was also in support of Shane Long.

You...wha...so...we...hold...bu...huh???

Someone pinch me.

Actually, just knock me the fuck out cold so I can forget what I just read.

Not even the same discussion re: Long vs. Fletcher.

Long makes sense for us as a club because...

A.) He's a different striker to what we have, he's got pace and he can be effective as a substitute for our side simply because he can thrive off service behind the defense.

B.) He is on the last 6 months of his contract, that means he's going to be cheaper right now as West Brom will know that if they have no shot at re-signing him they should move him on. It's why 2m has been mooted as the asking price.

C.) We could buy Shane Long for 2m, keep him around for either the rest of the season or if it goes well we could keep him around until January of next year as we bring in a young striker to mold for the future since Ade and Soldado are nearing 30 years old. Then, once we decide to sell him, we could easily turn a profit give he's only 26, has EPL experience and we could easily get around 5m (Maybe even more depending on how he does for us) from a side that needs a striker.

Fletcher would:

A.) Come with less potential profit. Same age as Long but he's got a contract until 2016 so we're going to need to pay a decent sum (far more than 2m) for him.

B.) Offer us very little in terms of how we want our strikers to play. He's only good with his left foot and he's just a limited footballer. He's a good physical option who knows his way inside the box, I suppose.

3rd striker, and he works very hard, is a threat in the air.

No, he's not that good. I don't think anyone ever said he was going to score 10 goals for us. But we need striker depth and to be honest, I don't trust Kane. And we don't have time to have someone adapt to the league this season. Now, if we could get a young guy for less than 10m who has potential, I'd be extremely happy. That's why I think we should look at Vincent Aboubakar, Michy Batshuayi, and Victor Ibarbo.

I just don't think that will happen and that's why I don't think Fletcher would be as bad as people say.
