Basically, nail on head.

We need a bit more firepower of the bench. Then we can go on and get the goals we need.

Yes cos we really struggled for goals this season, second highest goal scorers in the league

7 of those 20 have come in the last 3 games so don't look at it as a season long issue.

The players look knackered and we've lost the momentum that carried us so far.

Tired legs, tired minds and a group of deflated players at missing out on the league.

Interesting you say that...As the other 13pts dropped would most likely have won us the league! Just sayin'....

Lol are you serious? We are 2nd in the league.

Maybe we should train them less and finish 5th as usual instead

The team has under performed at a crucial state of the season, losing three second halves of games in a row. Poch gets all the praise when we do well and has to share the blame when we don't. It was an accusation against his Southampton teams that they fell away, and this team has clearly fallen away recently. He' still a manager proving himself and doesn't yet have a stack of silverware in his resume. We were the "middle 30 champions" this season but we need to make sure to do it in the first and last 4 next season.

A point against Newcastle is enough to secure 2. place, no?

I don't understand your point?

Are you trying to say that if we'd never lost the lead in any of our games this season, we'd be champions???

No shit Sherlock... Just like if we'd won every game we'd played this season we'd have won the quadruple?!

The point I was making is that 35% of our dropped points from leading positions have come in the last 3 games and it hasn't been a huge issue of ours up to this point.

You're not looking at it objectively, IMO. Your subjectivity is shown by your sole argument resting on prior spurs teams (and might I add fucking ages ago)

Like I said, stranger things have happened but I don't reckon the bookies will agree with you, especially if Newcastle are already down

You may be right... I'm just pissed we never put all this to rest now we've left the door open and with past experiences I must admit has screwed with my head...apologies for the negativity

I think we've been bloody brilliant this season in the main I'm very proud of the squad, just that little doubt left what's really pissed me off.

We have a great mentality to pull together when behind and keep going, but we struggle somewhat with keeping a lead once in front. Think that's just naivety really. We'll get better at it.
The best thing is, we can focus our pre-season on this. Due to the Euros most players will still be fit and we've got the general system down now. This pre-season will be all about the tweaking.

We dominate games and make loads of chances but I seem to remember reading somewhere that our chances/conversion rate isn't so good. I know that sounds picky when we've scored plenty of goals but in some of the matches we've drawn or lost a better conversion rate would probably have turned those into wins/draws. So I agree with other posters the main shortfall is a different option from the bench, a game changer, someone to play either alongside Harry when we're chasing a game or, radically, instead of him. We have a wonderful first 11, and decent back up in defence, but no decent back ups in offence.

Never the less we've had a more than decent season

Not sure I've seen it mentioned but the heat was definitely a factor on Sunday. They all look fried by about 60 mins. The pressing game is definitely something for our changeable climate.

Re-watching the highlights actually made me a lot more positive, we did have some good chances and should have got at least a point out of the game. As others have said, our ability to be clinical has really been up and down. Against United we had 3 chances (and scored them all) against others we've squandered better, guilt-edge chances. A different day and Kane squares it to Lamela for 2-1 at half time and it's a different game. Or Kane buries it. Finest of margins.

And for those posters saying "we shouldn't have been criticised when we were pointing out flaws" - think it was @mpickard2087 - you definitely definitely should have been. I really struggle with people overly focussing on negative things in the space of such positivity. This has been the greatest season. So when you go "meh, I've been saying this all season", all it does (from my point of view) is make you seem like you actively want things to go wrong so you prove your opinion is correct.

Which is just ****y.

The points gained from losing positions/lost from winning positions isn't really a fair comparison.

If you score the first goal and then the opposition equalise, ending the game in a draw, you've dropped 2 points.

If the opposition score the first goal and then you equalise, ending the game in a draw, you've only gained 1 point.

And how does it work for a game like Arsenal at home, where we were losing, then winning and then ended with a draw. Is that 1 point gained from a losing position and then 2 points lost from a winning position?

Leicester haven't dropped the points that we would've needed for a chance to win anyway so I wouldn't say it cost is the title. Secondly we need a draw against Newcastle to finish above Arsenal, the same Newcastle that drew with Aston Villa, i'm not usually confident of results, but seriously . . .
But seriously!!!
