The most realistic would be Adebayor. Levy should just break the bank to pay his wages, and then explain to the other players on his reasons for doing so.

oh right, if he 'explains' it, none of them will have a problem I'm sure....

come on mate, none of them would be happy with knowing someone was on much higher wages than them, it's probable some of them have clauses that say they must have wages that match the highest paid player at the club so a bunch of them may have to get raises.

Not to mention the fact that Adebayor isn't worth more than King, Modric, VDV and Bale.

Depending on which bracket of players we go for will depend on how ambitious the club is to progress

Bracket A

Luis Fabiano
Ednin Dzeko
Karim Benzema
Luis Suarez
Nilmer

Bracket B
Emanuel Adebayor
Roque Santa Cruz
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Hulk
Mirko Vucinic
Fernando Llorente
Frederck Kanoute
Giuseppe Rossi

Bracket C
John Carew
Oscar Cardozo
Calton Cole
Andy Caroll

Forget about players like Forlan, Saurez, Benzema, Adebayor and Fabiano! players in that bracket are on at least 90-100k a week.

The uk Tax of 50% will mean we have to pay even more so their take home pay is of the standard it is now!

Brett Spurs said Klanic and thats very realistic!

How do you know what wages these players are on? Sevilla don't pay huge wages. Hell Real Madrid don't pay all their players huge wages either.

I like Kalinic. Would be happy if we signed him. Looking further afield I genuinely like the look of Toivonen as a target man. Even if his goal record up to now has been average (he often didn't play up front until this season). Derdiyok I would like from Germany, Milevsky I would love if we could get him, and Llorente too would probably be my pick as the best potentially realistic option out there. Matri at Cagliari looks a player too. Wouldn't mind him.

Kalinic has looked very good this season. In fact he's looked good since the new year. Technically he's excellent, strong, holds the ball up well and can play up front on his own.
With our midfield I think he would excel.

Toivonen is a good shout. These are the types of players we can attract.

If man Utd came in for them then maybe there;s a small chance they would take a pay cut to join!

But Spurs have to offer silly money to sign these names as we dont have the same attraction to players that Man u/Arsenal/Chels/Liverpool have!

Wake up!!!

I don't see how the likes of Suarez and Fabiano are any bigger than VDV. But you didn't answer my question. How do you know how much they earn? How do you know they're earning more than we can pay them? Aside from Adebayor because he's on Man City money, but that's an exception for anybody. We're not exactly talking about the Messi's and Ronaldo's of the world here.

Yes, it is clear that when Defoe comes back he will play almost the entire time and despite his limitations he will at least offer us goals. So it is imperitave that we get someone who can play alongside him. This might mean bringing in someone who on paper might not be as high profile as some of our other strikers. Kalinic looks a good player, Toivonen too. I like the look of Abel Hernandez every time I've seen him even though he is still quite raw. i'd even settle for an old head like Kanoute or Dave Iaquinta.

I'd like a striker who can play out wide or through the middle. Suarez would be my number 1 target.

So you think players like Benzema and Saurez are on 50k a week?

The tax bracket in Spain is very different to the UK setup!

I'm mates with Colin Kazim Richards via his father and I know for a fact Colin has been offered moves back to the prem but he wont leave Fenerbache has the money offered would have to be way above what he is on now for tax reasons!

maybe you dont realise but being taxed at 50% is a killer!

I don't know what these players are on and what we can offer. Neither do you. That's my point. Why do people assume they know who we can and can't afford?

Simple! JOE COLE!!! Prime example of us not being able to afford him!!! Cause deep down we all dream of living in Liverpool playing for a club that has no money, and no CL football!

like i keep saying its time to wake up, Why are so many of our fans living in this dreamland!

DL is about turnover and profit! Fact!

VDV has come to us and surely Real were paying more than £35k per week after tax, because that's all he's getting here (roughly)

Absolute crock of utter shit.

DL is about maintaining a sustainable long term business model and retaining the security of Tottenham Hotspur FC as a liquid company.

He is not and has never been too scared to splash cash for his managers as long as the strategy dosn't pose any long term threat to the club.

In a slightly different style someone like Vucinic would fit that role very well. Actually he'd be an ideal partner to Defoe too.

So you don't think Chelsea could afford him either then? Maybe we didn't want to pay a player who is as injury prone as he is, more than say Modric. That's just common sense.

I don't see how wanting players like Fabiano or Suarez is living in a dreamland. We're not talking about signing players like Eto'o or Drogba.

Would a move from Ajax to Spurs not be realistic? Both teams are on a similar level as far as ability goes (although we've got better depth), yet the EPL is way better than the Eredivisie.

We were also well in with a chance of signing Fabiano in the summer aswell. It was only the asking price Sevilla were asking for that was the problem.

Just on the wages issue, it has to be borne in mind also, that players in other European countries are paid in Euro, and being paid in sterling goes some way to bridging the gap, on the bases of taxation.
