I think Lloyd Kelly could be a good, sensible signing at LCB If Bournemouth don’t get promoted. Fact that he is equally at home at LB makes him a great option to play as one of the three and contribute to our attacking play.

Romagnoli could be a reasonable free transfer option for the same position.

My number 1 pick for the position though would be Benoît Badiashile, though I think he would be rather expensive.

Bremer definitely looks good and in any other system, I would personally be fine with him at LCB. However, I think it's imperative that an LCB in Conte's system is also left-footed and very good on the ball.
So, what LCB that's even remotely available, is very good on the ball, and agile enough to cover large spaces like Davies apart from Bastoni?

I can think of a few but they all come with caveats either in price, level of opposition, or questions about their performances like Aké, Pau Torres, Botman, etc.
As a central defender i think Bremer would be absolutely perfect for Conte. I think the biggest issue i have is that he doesn't play LCB. He plays central and has played RCB in the past. Im not so worried about which foot he uses primarily, although i agree in a three man back line ideally you would look for a left footer, but I don't think we should be splashing the cash on a player that doesn't play in the position we need. The difference of RCB and LCB is very big and we have seen many defenders struggle when played on their less favourable side. Obviously theres a chance he might work LCB but it would be a gamble.

If we were looking to upgrade on Dier then Bremer would be my number one pick, he is another supremely talented defender and one who would match Romero well. But our primary focus is LCB and I also agree, if we are going to spend big on a defender I would rather go for Bastoni although he might be a hard get.

Who's the best LCB in the prem outside the top 6 sides?

In order, these are the players I'd like to see targeted for the four key positions we need to upgrade imo.

LCB - Bastoni, Gvadiol, Schlotterbeck (although probably going to Bayern), Torres, Salisu, Kidman
RWB - Livramento, Lamptey, Baku, Maehle
CM - Bissouma, Gravenberch, Fabian Ruiz, Kessie
RW/CF backup - Nkuku, Dybala, De Ketelaere, David

If we have a chance at De Vrij to come in and challenge Dier then great but I think the above four positions are the essential ones to upgrade/add depth.

Salisu is a shout.
Yes and no. I mean he's young, left footed, looks a good CB, and has a decent passing range. Is that enough to play in Conte's system where his CB's are asked to have other specific duties? Davies for instance is required to have some attacking intent by underlapping the wb when we are high up the pitch. I think a lot of the scouting being done in this thread seems to be people looking for the best players in certain positions and not necessarily the best fit for Conte's system.

I agree. I don't think he is the right fit for our team as the points you have set out, which are very similar to the point I made earlier when saying Gvardiol is a better option then either Botman or Torres.

I was just answering who was the best LCB out there outside the top six.

A list of possible targets for our priorities this summer in my opinion: (the year represents when their contract expires)

RWB: Cuadrado (2022), Mæhle/Baku/Lamptey (2025)

CM: Kessie/Brozovic/Eriksen (2022), Tielemans/Gravenberch/Bissouma (2023)

LCB: De Vrij/Skriniar/Koulibaly (2023), Pau Torres (2024), Botman (2025)

ST - Dybala (2022), Zapata (2023), De Ketelaere (2024), Jonathan David

We’re basically looking for another vertonghen.
I’m not sure who that is from the names bandied about
But you can see why Davies has worked as a defensive lb in that role

To me that's Gvardiol at Leipzig or Schlotterbeck at Freiburg.

Remember seeing Kelly play for England Under 21(or23) a few years ago when he was playing for Bristol & being pleasantly surprised. Don’t think he played regularly for Bournemouth when he initially joined them but guess he’s getting good game time now. Looked assured in possession of the ball & good in the air.

Indeed and I’m not overly upset as much as I rate him. Im assuming Kessie will be our primer CM target. Ideally for me we would sell Winks and bring in Kessie and Fabian Ruiz. I wouldn’t be adverse to Bissuma ether. I know we have Sarr as well but from the games I’ve seen he could probably do with another loan as I feel, like Gil, he’s not ready.

Gvardiol is the perfect player for what Conte seems to want from a LCB. I have a feeling there will be bigger clubs after him but he really does possess everything we need to upgrade Davies.

Gvardiol has all the tools to be a generational center-back.

He's rapid, strong, and great with the ball.

I bet he'd cost an absolute bomb, but he'd definitely be worth it.
