I've only seen him play once against West Ham (so far too small a sample size!) and wasn't convinced but his numbers are good and if he is who the manager wants then I'm in.

Bellotti would make sense if we're waiting to see how Scarlett or Parrott pan out. I'd take him anyway on a Bosman (I think). He'd give us a load of bite up front and more versatility.

Belotti is quite an old-fashion striker - a bustling, brute with a howitzer of a shot. But his link up play isn’t great.

I do agree that we need to bring in an experienced backup striker, though. What about Luis Muriel at Atalanta who’s entering his final year of his contract?

Super talented from a technical standpoint, has shown to be a consistent goal-scorer in one of the best leagues, and most importantly, is used to coming off the bench and making an impact at Atalanta.

His situation is rather unique there, as he’s one of their best players, but is suited best as an impact sub (like Ole under Ferguson).

When you compare high-level FBref stats between the LWB targets it makes me feel even better that we're targeting the right players (I know it doesn't tell full story). But through this comparison, the top three average players were: 1. Raum 2. Kostic 3. Harrison 4. Perisic - ALL who we've been linked with in some way already.

Nice to see Sess and Regulion boast some of the best base-level defending stats of the group over the last year, you'd hope there would be an increase for our targets in Conte's system and the thinking the Sess and continue to grow and improve the attacking side of his game (which we've seen he has in the past) would make for a solid LWB pair as long as he can stay healthy.

Daily Mail linking us with Renato Sanches. Would be a great signing if Conte can get his A-game out of him. So strong and impossible to shake off the ball like Dembele.

It might be slightly short sighted but I do think we need to buy some players that are not going to be involved in the World Cup. So far only kulusevski from the first team that will get a mid season break. Liverpool will have a fresh Salah and Diaz (possibly Trent and Robertson too) and city will have Haaland and Mahrez so we can’t rely on an phyiscally and potentially emotionally drained key players for the whole season. Bastoni, bissoma and omishen full into this and should be part of the thinking

That's some good info, thanks for sharing.

How do you think he would cope defensively against the top teams?
His numbers aren't encouraging, but from an eye-test perspective he seems like he has good intelligence and awareness and statistically he is well above average at pressing high up the pitch.

His weakest attribute to me is he is ability to stop quick dribblers in open space. He is fine when camped in, but out open wide and 1-1 against an attacker he gets beaten and turned very often. It's why a player like Bastoni behind him would be so important. If Kostic is willing to push up and engage an attacker and make their life a bit tricky, then an aggressive LCB can come in and clear up before an attack happens. It's what Ndicka does for Frankfurt too, so Kostic already knows how to work in that kind of defensive partnership.

So looking at this kostic is better going forward and sess is better defending...Ideal LWB imo

Watching all of Kostic's assists from the past few years and Andre Silva was on the end of a lot of them before his move to Leipzig.

16 goals, 9 assists in all comps this season and seems like a good finisher, scores with his head, and poacher. Wouldn't be the worst shout if Leipzig wanted to move on from him...

That's how I saw it as well. Again, since we can see the last 365 days worth of data we're hoping Conte has had his affect defensively on Sess and Regulion and you'd hope that Kostic's numbers there would increase in AC's system.

The point I was trying to make and this isn't a quote just a example is I keep seeing
Sell ndom 25 mill
Lo celso 25mil
Sanchez 20 mil
Winks a tenner
Reggie 20 mil
So that's 90 million on top of the 150 million plus the loose change from the last kitty so we probably have a total of 240 million and 10 pounds to spend woo hoo buy all the players and I didn't think it would be correct but I'm only hooman so maybe I'm being to simplistic ?
You’re quite right, but as we’ve all been saying it works both ways. Unless we track the exact deals over time we’ll never know exactly what we are actually spending in any given window - it’s just headline numbers that the media use to sensationalise the window and say who’s spent the most.

We bought Ndombele for ~£50m three years ago. Another 1/5 of that fee is probably due to Lyon this summer, with another 1/5 still outstanding. If we sell him for £20m now, we’d likely only get £4m of that from the buying club this summer and the other £16m spread over the next 4 summers. But we’d still have to pay Lyon their money this year and next. So we’re not making anything, and are actually out of pocket in the short term. It’s all staggered payments and you also have to consider wages, bonuses, loyalty payments and agents fees as well. I bet Levy has a really complex spreadsheet that he pores over. It’s why clubs like Everton can easily get into financial trouble without really achieving anything.

Kostic seems to be a smart choice. Statistically very impressive going forward, at his peak, not expensive so leaves funds for other areas. Having an experienced head and then Sess as the younger rotation option seems like a sensible way to go.
