Just the little clip around 5:25 with them in the tunnel until they go out is really nice for team spirit. Some of these players look close, and that's nice, but it's also important.

I totally get the criticisms of levy and the board, get the frustration.

But I do think Ange coming in has delayed some things minorly. He really seemed to want to get a proper look at players that were deadwood for Mourinho and conte but not for Poch.

I would hope as players/clubs get more desperate there's some more wiggle room.

I will sit on the side of optimism. My predictions:

In: ST and CB. CM of some sorts if PEH leaves.

For defence sign Schuurs and Tosin and sell Spence Tanganga Sanchez Dier Reguilon

Why don't we just do a 1 year loan swap with fulham for tosin and dier? Isn't everyone a winner in that?

Really surprised we haven’t been linked more strongly to a loan to buy move for Jota given issues in Saudi? Has Levy written all over it. Do people think he would be at the required level?

Not sure its viable unless we're trying to craft some kind of infinity gauntlet of left wingers, is it? Also, he was trying to go there for the bag, which doesn't seem massively ambitious.

I think he is, but we've already signed Solomon in the role he'd have taken.

The odd thing is, I think we need 1, maybe 2 players. However, the players we are being linked to aren't a massive improvement on what we have.

Part of me thinks there must be some value to waiting for the right player and promoting the youth.

If we don't start, we will just keep losing them.

Modern football seems just to be about what everyone spends, rather than develop.

Orbans goal record is outrageous. Can't say I've seen a single game of his. But on paper, tantalising.

Feels like our rebuild has lost some steam. Quelle surprise.

There’s far too much work to do in 10ish days.

I'm surprised Real Madrid aren't interested and vice versa. I know they loaned in Kepa and Lloris apparently still wants to be a number one, but I don't really think of Kepa as a nailed on starter and being the #2 at Real Madrid is surely a good gig. We can't be asking much as a fee and getting Lloris and Kepa would seem like a really good job of dealing with Courtois' injury.
when you look at how many goals we conceded last season, a lot of teams would be hesitate to make a move for him, even if he was free. For example, Inter. they preferred to pay Bayern 6m for Sommer and didn't go for Lloris who was available for less than that if not free. Hell, they had financial problem. That really tells you how bad he is.

Lo Celso probably still has ambitions of playing for Argentina. He won't do that if he is nailed to the bench here.

So, I suspect it may be more an instance of Lo Celso wanting to leave - for a good fee - than Spurs wanting to sell.

And, if he is not part of the long-term plans here - then, it's really not a big deal to sell this season, even if it leaves us short in that creative role. In a pinch, Bentancur could be a poor-mans Maddison, if he played higher up the pitch.

Again - not ideal to sell, but not end of the world either.
I would only consider to sell Lo Celso if we receive a very good offer that is hard to refuse. If teams continue to offer loan + option to buy, they can fuck off. I would rather keep him if we only get loan offer. Enough of all this loan offer. He is not toxic like NDombele.

Why would we sell Gio?
You're looking at 50 million to replace him like for like.
He's under contract and if Madddison is injured we don't have anyone to replace that skill set if we sell.
Exactly. If we sell him, who would you buy to replace him and for how much? So why not to keep him? Unless if we get a huge offer that is hard to refuse, otherwise, I don't see why we need to sell him.

I don't really think so - I think we need 1-2 really high level players who are clear improvements on what we have currently. We're not in Europe so we don't need huge squad depth, but I'd feel much better about our season with top level attacking player and CB.

The rebuild is about more than just signinfigs though isn't it.
We have made a lot and the squad has a rather major facelift over the last 24 months don't forget. We need a coach to coach these players in a system they enjoy and one that will hopefully bring success.

Only another 8 days.... until my Birthday.

If I've learned 1 thing this window, it's that what I (and the regular fan) want and know, is very little when it comes to the actualities. I'm going to bite my tongue and hold my breath that no matter who we want, who we get and who we don't get there is a plan, 1st, 2nd, 3rd options.

We all wanted Naglesmann and then Slot, some Poch, now look how happy we are with Ange. Our 1st choice CB fan meltdown was Tapsoba, maybe Laporte.. vdV is tearing it up. Get Raya was the cry, but Venom is pulling out worldies v Utd.

Orban, Williams, Johnson, Tosin, etc... whoever is left that we get I'll back them to the hilt. I won't cry... "but why didn't we go for x". It' could be someone else I've never heard of. COYS

The Johnson talk is interesting. But if we are really in the market for another wide forward I would prefer us to look at Neto. He’s got all the ability we are looking for IMO and it would give us all the options we would need in forward positions.

I’d happily post this in the Brennan Johnson thread on the transfer rumours page but I don’t have access and haven’t had for over at least a year now.

So you’re getting it here instead.

It will be interesting to see where we are next Friday, no doubt there will be a lot of ups and downs along the way.
Some of the names we are linked with lack any stardust, but I suppose that is where we are at.

I am very intrigued to see where Lloris ends up. Most clubs will have their first choice keepers set now so will only look at clear upgrades only you'd imagine. If I were him, I wouldn't be turning my nose up at being second choice for a CL club. Better than him being behind Forster here, or not even being registered.

Have to say i'm quite surprised he wasn't more active in trying to get a move earlier in the window where he'd have had better options but perhaps Levy had no desire to let him leave for free.
Presumably Danny is holding out for a fee, which makes for a less attractive proposition. But we need to shed at least 3 non-HG players, so on the final day of the window we will tear up his contract to get a big earner who we are unable to register off the payroll. You would have expected Hugo and his agent to have figured this out for themselves so they some irons in the fire.

Reckon it might be one to watch towards the end of the window as an opportune addition.
If they are so adamant to get rid after a month he may be available free or on loan which would allow us to pick up a player that Ange is familiar with without putting a dent in any remaining transfer funds we have.

Ok so 1 week to go.
We had 33 players on the book (not inc those u21).
from those 33:

- Rodon loaned out to Leeds

The following are surely surplus to requirements (having not even featured in pre-season) despite being available
Harvey White
Brooklyn Lyons-Foster
Djed Spence
Alfie Whiteman (although injured he's fallen behind Austin and others anyway)

If we loan/sell those, or just have them play in the PL2, we still have 28 players, 20 of whom are NHG.

So, we'd need to shift 4 NHG players to sign any overseas over-age players for the first team. Wonder if Orban appeals (as he'd be U21) if we're struggling to shift players out. Similarly, Brennan Johnson and Tosin Adarabioyo appeal as HG (since we have more HG players to shift and arguably more easily).

Based on tour squad, those who've played under Ange and so forth, we must be looking to sell/loan:
Lloris
Reguilón
Ndombele
>>>this would take us to 25 (17HG)

And likely:
Tanganga
Dier or Sanchez

Jury Out (injured anyway)
Sessegnon
Gil

And open to offers on Højbjerg, Perišić,

It looks tough to create space for NHG signings
