I'm not particularly pro signing Barkley, although I recognise the financial sense of it, but one bad performance, highlighted by a bad tackle doesn't really mean anything. We know personally Anfield is a tough place to go, and Everton were just set up all wrong. Barkley, after a slow start to the season, has been performing well, assisting and scoring, so really people need to look at the bigger picture.

If we spend 30m I want it to be on a player who will GO to these hard places and be able to perform... Surely that's where we need to be at. We can't just continue to buy players who can only go to the Burnleys of this world.

Our players this season haven't done that. We've been crap at all the top 6 teams this year. 30 million is the new 10 million. Championship players are going for 10-15 now.

I agree and that's what I'm saying. I do think you can buy 30m players who can go to the Anfields and perform. I do think Dembele can certainly dominate midfield, I think Kane can dominate defences away

I think the problem is we don't have different options and by mixing it up that will help us

As a creative player, you sometimes need your team to give you a platform to play on. Everton weren't capable of that as a collective. There are no guarantees anyway when signing players, and plenty of players worth more than £30m have failed to "go to Burnley" and get points this season.

Yeah but that wasnt exactly a one off performance or one off tackle. He's a very talented player, but I just don't think he has the brain to be a truly top player.

Possibly, like I say, I am not particularly pro signing him. But one thing I do like is that it looks like he's recognised he's gone a bit stale or stagnated at Everton, and probably needs to leave to push himself. Would be very easy for him to stay there.

You are right somewhat, players have failed to go there and get points.

I think Barkley is supposed to be the Dembele back up and become that ball carrier.

And can play in multiple positions. Would be Very good signing in my opinion. Sissoko or Barkley to come on??

Sissoko should be sold. People moan about people who want him out but it does not make any financial sense to keep someone who doesn't improve you... What the fuck.

Every job there is a probation period, he is now past his probation period. Yeah yeah yeah he hasn't played etc, we'll then he is surplus to requirements. Sheesh.

And no he isn't being scapegoated.

Barkley I think he will be ok but at say 10 to 15m. If he is 30m then Dele is 100m player,

Yeah, I'd like to add that I'm not against Barkley like I was against Sissoko, but I just wanted to air that he has major flaws in his game and that no matter the level of coaching he might not get any better.

Players are going for 10-15m between Championship clubs. That's just realistic for the English market.
Those players tend to the best players in the championship who can guarantee a promotion fight, which is worth over £120m

Aston Villa signed Ross McCormack and Kodija for over £10m because they both are both 20 goals a season players.

They got rid of their players to other premier league teams who are a level above Aston Villa, that doesnt mean that the players that left Villa are worth more, as Gustede, Gueye, Traore and Ayew all left for less than £10m each

Just because players are going in the championship for that amount doesnt mean that premier league players are worth more

Especially when FFP only allows a few clubs in the championship to spend that much

Out of our AMs, only Alli has equaled Barkley's combined goals and assists v Top 6 sides this season. Eriksen has 2 less yet has played 1 more game.

Saying that though, Lamela is usually our most productive AM v the top 6.

You can slap my arse and call me Gertrude, but this thread is but a mere nano-second nipple flash compared to the beef unveiled in June when the transfer fayre rolls into town. Fuck knows what my point is; I suspect it'll make more sense in the cold light of summer.

Pickford
Sessengon
Ward Prowse
Striker in Jan if Janssen doesn't improve by then
Boom
We already have Pau Lopez who was a top young GK in La Liga, no need for Pickford
Sessengon:love::love::love:
Tielemans:love::love::love:
Zaha:love:
Boom, then sit back relax and watch us dominate for years to come

Those three would be outstanding. I feel we would need another CB if we sell Wimmer though, possibly Gibson as someone already suggested. Hoping Janssen can get going and save us the need to go after another CF.

I have mixed feelings about Tielemans. He is without doubt very talented and will be a top player IMO, and also his versatility would be an asset and it will probably be our last chance to sign him before bigger fish come in and that part of me thinks he and Sessegnon should be the first 2 signings we make. On the other hand, I wonder if it is a case of just bad timing, as we have Dembele & Winks for the CM spot next to Wanyama/Dier, so don't really need another body there and with us already having Eriksen, Alli, Lamela and Son for the 2 AM positions (and Edwards coming through) we only really have space for 1 new AM signing (assuming Sissoko and GKN leave) and IMO, we need someone more direct.

If Lamela (doubt he will) or Dembele (at his age, I could see us accepting a huge offer) were to leave though, Tielemans would be top of the list for me.

I would understand if we buy a left sided CB, but I'm just very confident that Davies will slide over and do a top job deputizing for Jan and maybe even in the middle of the three. Gibson is a really good shout thou.

I understand we might not have the playing time to attract Tielemans, but I still think we have room for that distinct Eriksen backup in our squad to protect those spells A) were at the beginning of the season when it takes time for Eriksen to get started, B) and those stretches of games were we run Eriksen ragged. Lamela is a wonderful creative force, but he doesn't posses the same skill set as Eriksen and it showed during our string of draws at the beginning of the season that we need another creative option.
Also while the 3421 is an incredible effective formation,I think it's really important to also be able to use the 4141 system, especially in Europe and against the likes of City and Liverpool. It's the formation that puts the most pressure on oppositions defenses and imo was the big difference between our two performances against City. Tielemans and Eriksen was made to play in that formation. It maybe really ambitious but I'd love for us to head in this direction.
