Meyer is exactly the sort of player we should be targeting should be cheap with his contract and his underwhelming performances, should make him relatively cheap while he still has an exciting potential. I still prefer Brandt, but would have no complaints with Meyer.

Tutto Sport reports that Real Madrid are ready to let Isco go for £30 mil. LEVY?
He'll only have a year left on his contract this summer, right? If he decides to leave Madrid and doesn't sign a new one, I'd expect that he'll go for a similar fee to what Gundogan and Mkhitaryan went for last year.

The current Spurs team may be the youngest in the Premier League. That's great - but youth often needs an experienced head to steady the ship and provide leadership. Last season that leadership was obviously lacking in the final run-in. We'll see what happens in the coming months but the players certainly appear to be more focussed and disciplined. Having said that, an experienced leader can make all the difference. Look what Dave Mackay did for Derby Co so many years ago.

With that in mind - how about Vincent Kompany?

He's been injured for ages - but even when he was fit (for a short time) he had trouble making the starting eleven at City. Maybe Pep doesn't rate him? Who knows what his real injury status is - but here's a player that I believe we should consider.

Wimmer hasn't progressed so well this season and maybe Kompany could replace him.

Some might say that City would be crazy to let Kompany go to a rival - but then Spurs let Mackay leave way back when. Lightening could strike twice - but this time in our favour.

John Cross in the Mirror reporting City in for Isco in the summer...

It was a nice dream...

I imagine Pellegrini waxed lyrical during his tenure...Barca are said to be after him, therefore Citeh will be too?

Let's see

Wages
Injury prone
Man City won't sell to a rival
He wouldn't come to us
No re-sale value
Past his peak

Pick any of the above

his body is proper broke, and if he had any shred of usefulness city wouldnt let us benefit from it. Plus it's a signing that goes very much against the club's style and according to itk preference.

ERIKSEN

FFS

You certainly did not get it duh.It was an example. So I have to spell it out for you:Lamela is as wide forward/mf and now that Lamela is out, Eriksen and Dele are playing wide (instead of Lamela).
Anyway, if you believe that holding CMF Dembele is keeping LWF Lamela out of the team, well, suit yourself.

When players continually breakdown with muscle problems and other injuries it means their body is telling them something: it's time to go to West Ham.

Just to further to eddiev14's excellent post a few pages back, I had a look at some other players with 12 months left on their contracts this Summer from around Europe, including the ones he mentioned.

(Information from transfermarkt.com)

Premier League

Alexis Sanchez, 28, Arsenal, ATT
Mesut Ozil, 28, Arsenal, MID
Aaron Ramsey, 26, Arsenal, MID
Juan Mata, 28, Man Utd, MID

Emre Can, 23, Liverpool, MID
Michael Keane, 24, Burnley, DEF
Andre Gray, 25, Burnley, ATT
Andrew Robertson, 22, Hull, DEF

La Liga

Lionel Messi, 29, Barcelona, ATT
Andres Iniesta, 32, Barcelona, MID
Isco, 24, Real Madrid, MID

Obviously there are some names we could never attract (included just out of interest), but there are players in that list we could realistically target who would improve our 1st XI/squad, and ones who I'm sure Levy would relish trying to do cut-price deals for (e.g. Wanyama).

We should try to get some of the ones I've highlighted. The rest are either too high profile or not what we need

We should be taking a serious look at Michael Keane too. Didn't realise he only had a year left. He's a proper baller of a CB.
