I'm with Herc on the RS matter. It's obvious that Sessegnon has potential and has been doing well in the Championship. But £50 million for him seems more than a little over the top. We're a title chasing side now - as well as challenging for the Champions League. How much playing time will RS get in our side should he join? He's still developing and needs game time. Can we afford to bring him on in an effective manner? I'm not sure we can. And £50 million (or there-abouts) is a heck of an amount to pay for a developing player. Surely we need someone that can slot in and contribute immediately?

We're moving into our new stadium next season. We need success that season - and beyond. If RS is to play then whose spot will he take? It seems that present thoughts are that he will play the left attacking midfield role. Will Son sit it out for RS? Will Moura? Others?

I can see the value of RS playing the left wing-back role - and he could fill that role if Rose leaves - but would he be effective enough to play that role alternating with Davies?

I'd rather see money spent on incomings that will have an immediate impact on our starting eleven - particularly in the middle of the field. Dembele can be superb - but he's aging and injury-prone. His time to regularly play must surely decline. We have two excellent defensive midfielders in Dier and Wanyama - but we need a Dembele alternative to partner them. That's where I think our greatest priority should be.

£50 million for Sessegnon is just too risky in my view.

$10 says that the exact same people saying that Sess is too expensive will be the exact same people complaining that we didn't sign him in five years.

Quite possibly. They might also be the same people who thought 10m for John Bostock was a bit risky.

£50m is and isn’t steep. Sess has bundles of raw talent, can play in multiple positions and has contributed hugely in Fulham’s push for promotion. In addition to this he’s English, something we’re lacking in from a Champions League squad perspective. Add to the fact Fulham are loaded and he’s highly sought after and they don’t want to sell. Plus transfer fees have gone through the roof, there’s no denying that or shying away from it. As others have mentioned £20-30m buys you ‘average’ players in the EPL. Taking the above into account can anyone blame them for holding out for £50m? We would do the same. Barring the oil rich clubs no can else can afford what we would ask for, for Eriksen, Alli, Son and Kane. The figures would dwarf the £50m Fulham are reportedly after.

If we sign Sess, then I'm very sure that Rose will be sold. I doubt we will use Sess as high up the pitch as he is being currently played at Fulham.
We already have too many attack-minded MFs and Poch will use his speed to run up and down the left flank as an RWB.

If you look at Man C tonight and in previous games there’s an argument for reverting to 3 at the back plus Wanyama protecting them and then playing attacking wide players (Moura, Son, Sessegnon etc) in addition to Alli, Eriksen and Kane.

Whether we play with 2 or 3 CBs, Sess would still be an asset as a LB or LWB because of his pace and strength (which will only get better as he matures) but not at the exorbitant fees being reported though.

Surely the £50m would be broken down to a more modest actual fee, with a lot of success related addons driving it up to £50m.

Why would anyone want to play like Man City tonight ? :ROFLMAO:

While Llorente will be allowed to leave for the right price in the summer, Lloris and Vertonghen are expected to sign new long-term Tottenham contracts in the coming months, along with Pochettino, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son.

Dembele has also made it clear that he is currently happy at Tottenham and his situation is viewed differently to that of Toby Alderweireld, who is almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season.

Alderweireld’s contract talks have completely stalled and he has since lost his place in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s team – due in part to a hamstring injury.

But Alderweireld was fit for selection for the victory over Chelsea, only for Pochettino to decide the 29-year-old was not in good enough form to be part of his squad.

Paris Saint-Germain are currently the favourites to sign Alderweireld for around £40million, although Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona are also following his situation.

With Alderweireld set to go, Spurs are one of a number of clubs interested in Jonny Evans, who will be available for just £3m when West Browmich Albion are relegated. They are also tracking Ajax 18-year-old Matthijs de Ligt and Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles.

Tottenham want Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon and will be in the market for a central midfielder, regardless of what happens over Dembele’s future. Atalanta’s Bryan Cristante is one midfielder on their radar.

ITK folks may come in and call foul but it feels like Matt Law has been on a decent run of articles on Spurs ongoings.

Evans, de Ligt or Lascelles.

That's an odd selection of players. They are completely different from each other.

I wouldn't waste time in Evans or Lascelles, even if they are available for as little as 3m. I prefer we use Dier or Foyth

I think Foyth, if he maintains his focus and sticks with Poch, will be a sensational centre half. There, I said it.

Not heard anything regarding our interest in Evans though, and nothing on Lascelles for a couple of years.

Lascelles would surprise me as he’s someone who will need football regularly now on his career and he definitely won’t get it with us unless we have an injury crisis.

Evans would be less surprising, he’s at a point in his career where he probably realises being first choice at a shit club is worse than being a rotation option at a good club, he’s improved massively since leaving Man Utd and he’s at an age where if he’s experienced third choice behind Vertonghen and Sanchez while Foyth develops it suits us. Win win win. Yes, a massive downgrade from Toby but do we need a Toby level player to play bit part? Of course all this depends in how long we think Vertonghen will continue at his current level.

Out. LLorente, Rose, Toby, N'Koudou, Onomah, Sissokko for about £120 mill

In. Shaw, Sessegnon, CB, CM.

Not sure we need more up front with Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Lamela, Son, Moura - maybe young forward that's happy to sit in the bench or can play right across the attacking positions.

Maybe replace Vorm if he decides to leave for some first team football before he retires.
