So last season fulham wanted 50m for him or if i am not wrong, he was in the last year of his contract and we could have easily signed him on a tribunal fee?

No signed a contract early and said he wouldn't look at moving until he had. He/his dad wanted Fulham to be compensated for him. From that moment on we were quoted 40+. We chose to leave it and see if he could replicate his output before risking such a large chunk of cash.

He has and we are still very keen. Fulham have always valued him high because of his potential, people thinking we are only going for him because of his exploits last season are very much mistaken. We have been watching him for 4-5 years at various youth levels.

Signed his first pro contract in June 2017. 3 year contract.

This lad has the very rare quality of not being afraid in front of goal. He knows where the goal is and how to score goals. He has no nerves. He is definitely a top talent but 50 million right now is too much.

You won't find any better at 17 yoa though.
Pretty much the exact reason we should sign him. Compared to others at his age hes miles ahead. We would be buying one of the best 17yo out there who poch can create him into the exact player he wants! He doesn't have to be amazing straight away because he has so many years to develop and will still be considered as young. Personally I hope we sign him but not as an immediate impact player which therefore means we should sign someone else to be an instant impact and let sess develop

No and I am not convinced he is yet but in any case that is no reason to just throw extra ten million at Fulham.
I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying that we have shown we are willing to pay a lot of money for obviously talented young players.

I think for us, as I believe some itks have mentioned in the past, the large fees aren’t the issue for us currently but meeting the wage demands of those who tend to cost large fees, is. Therefore we have to take calculated risks on young talent (which, evidently and satisfyingly, seems to suit Poch)... we clearly have to weigh up the potential of Sessegnon and make a decision accordingly. In an inflated market, he will be pricey but, if they do decide to pursue and are successful, I trust our superb manager to help him grow in to a superstar. In a round about way, what I’m alluding to is, if the club takes the risk with Sess, I’ll back it.

50m may get you someone like Fekir who's already the finished product. That's why 50m is too much for Sessegnon imo

Real Madrid is signing Vinicius Jr for 45m euros. He's 17. And as good as Neymar at that age.

As much as I rate Sessegnon, he's not half the player Vinicius is

Yeah whoever signs Sessegnon have to account for the extra "Young english player"-rate.

He is the best young CB around for my money.

Even after seeing him perform great for us, I still believe that De Ligt is better than Sanchez. Even the Ajax fans think so.
But... I think Sanchez qualities (specially his pace) have been crucial for us and is a better fit.

Thn we should wait for him for next 2 seasons and sign him up then ..

I see a lot of comparisons between Sess and Dele, not in terms of what kind of player they are but what kind of mentality they have. For a 17-year-old to have been introduced to professional football at such a young age (16) and be producing that many goals and assists tells you a lot about the belief he has. It was the exact same with Dele.

I remember when we first got news that we were watching Dele, I found some videos of him and I'll be honest he didn't really stand out. Scored some goals but also appeared to be a little rough around the edges - which is expected at that age. But it's Dele's mentality that set(s) him apart, of course he produces some sublime moments but Poch has had to work on him a lot and has brought him on loads. I could see the exact same happening with Sess because Poch sees the belief and mentality that sets Sess apart from the rest at his age. All of Dele's previous coaches have said that he had the mentality of borderline arrogance that it didn't matter who you pitted him against, he could do it. I think this will be the same with Sess and why he is so appealing, whilst there is also a lot of ceiling for improvement, which could make him on par with Dele. We need to bringing in players with this mentality if we are to win, it's not all about how much ability they have right now.

The price is obviously the clear difference between Dele and Sess - a 5m purchase has no level of expectancy whereas a 50m purchase will do. That's the one thing that would concern me. But since Sess has stepped up already at such a young age, it may not be that much of a concern.

Can't winner this enough, this is exactly it. Young players will always have ability and some will be more advanced than others but with youngsters it's the mentality that sets them apart.

If he gets near to fulfilling his potential, fuck knows how much Sess will be worth in 7 years time, when he's Fekir's age.
