If he gets near to fulfilling his potential, fuck knows how much Sess will be worth in 7 years time, when he's Fekir's age.

If Fekir performs for us he would double the 50m. So we are at a similiar position. In terms of probabilities Fekir has a better chance because he’s closer to the top level. Sess implies a higher risk which should be reflected in the price. There’s a lot of things that could happen in the middle. The purpose of buying top young players is to invest in potential for a lower price. In this case you are investing in potential but not for a lower price, actually a very high one.

The problem is that with a 17-yo - the range of possibilities is so broad, its difficult to have any confidence as to where the player ends up.

If it was me - I would pass on paying full price for potential. But I trust our team to make the right call here.

I will say this - if he played in France, or his name was Sessegnoninho - he would probably generate more excitement here.

With RS he is obviously a great talent but on the few times I've seen him in the build up play he is basically playing up front on his own, but he is so young that Poch can mould him into whatever he wants

Assuming Rose decides to head through the exit door, I can see sense in getting a Shaw as part of any Rose deal. Mourinho clearly doesn't want him, so his value will have plunged, but equally Rose should still command a relatively hefty fee, so a decent chunk of cash plus Shaw looks appealing if Poch believes he can restore him back to Southampton form.
Equally, whilst I do think we need to be conscious of Toby wanting out, and if so replace him accordingly, I can see some sense in the Evans links, a vastly experienced safe option behind Jan and Sanchez, without blocking Foyth (and maybe Carter-Vickers, Tanganga, Lyons-Foster) in the longer term. Are the likes of De Ligt or Tah going to want to come and play second fiddle to Sanchez/Jan? That said I'm not against Mawson given he's a LCB and Jan is that much older than Davinson.
Two astute aquisitions without breaking the bank should leave room to add a significant signing elsewhere.

CM - we seem to be moving towards a midfield 3 at times with Eriksen sitting to the right of Dier, with Dembele left. Are Winks and Onomah ready/trusted to be the deputies? I'd hope so, something far more pleasing about an academy graduate stepping up. However, if not, then I'm firmly on the side of those who see De Jong as the answer, this lad has the full set of skills.
Finally, attacking areas, do we really need a full time CF, probably not, as when Kane is fit, he'll get next to no mimutes. What we need is another 'Son' type forward, someone capable of slotting in and doing the job, but equally able to play deeper/wider so as to get minutes on the park and stag sharp. Realistic, Rodriguez from WBA ticks the box, proven over his injury and known to Poch, however dream scenario would be the return of Bale (if the money men can be clever enough), the old boy returns as the marquee signing into the new stadium.
Maybe room left for a punt on one of the Championship's England hopefuls, Maddison or ideally Sessegnon.

Out - Toby, Rose, Sissoko, Llorente, Janssen, Nkoudou.

In - Evans/Mawson, Shaw, De Jong?, Rodriguez/Bale, Maddison/Sessegnon.

Lloris
Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Shaw
Eriksen, Dier, Dembele
Alli, Kane, Bale

New keeper
Trippier/KWP, Foyth, Mawson, Davies
Onomah, Wanyama, Winks
Moura, Son, Lamela
With Sessegnon/Madison also maybe in the mix, and Edwards as AM options, you could quickly switch those formations to a 4231, alternatively with Carter-Vickers as an extra CB you could swap to 3 at the back.
Trade in where necessary a different CB for Mawson, plus De Jong for Winks or Onomah etc etc.

My issue Trix is not his quality, but the money they are trying to get for him. It is a MASSIVE gamble to spend so much on one player at that age. I would expect Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Rooney-esque ability at that age.

I have watched him loads this season, and to be perfectly honest, I am nowhere near convinced at his quality to demand 50m. 25 plus million at a push. At that price get him, but more stay clear. However, we know how keen we are on him.

I agree 100% he just dosnt 9
No signed a contract early and said he wouldn't look at moving until he had. He/his dad wanted Fulham to be compensated for him. From that moment on we were quoted 40+. We chose to leave it and see if he could replicate his output before risking such a large chunk of cash.

He has and we are still very keen. Fulham have always valued him high because of his potential, people thinking we are only going for him because of his exploits last season are very much mistaken. We have been watching him for 4-5 years at various youth levels.

Thats the thing we all have opinions about certain players but most pf the time we hardly have seen these players if the club throw 50 million you know they have done their homework

Depends on what we do with Llorente. If we decide to dispense with the idea of a like-for-like 'backup' for Kane, we could theoretically replace Llorente with a Son/false 9 type player.
Maybe, but then you're also talking about replacing someone who has played less than 1000 minutes for the club and most of those minutes came in very unimportant cup games. It's not exactly the kind of minutes and games I expect any kind of player of the likes of Malcom or whoever to be very happy with accepting. Then if we want to talk about playing more minutes we're back to giving less minutes to the core group of players and as I already stated we're probably going to have to do that just to accommodate the extra minutes someone like Lucas will want to get next year.

Anything more and we're once again in the situation of pissing someone off and as is if the team is healthy someone of Kane, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lucas, and whoever else came in would not even make the bench most games let alone get starts.

Frankie De Jong and Malcolm. That will do. And a young CF instead of Llorente. No replacement for Toby. If Rose goes then a young LB
To my earlier points how in the world could we give minutes to Malcom, a young CF AND the rest of our now large AF crew? Lucas barely plays as is...

Spot on, look how well Ox was doing at a similar age in the championship.

I hope Sessegnon turns out to be a world beater, but unfortunately can't see it myself.
Just being pedantic but Ox never played in the Championship.

He played in League One and even then not at the level Sess is.

We can't, the Malcom deal had been dead to me the minute Lucas signed.

On the CB note, Julian Brandt signed his extension with Leverkusen and mentioned the fact that Tah extended his contract gave him belief that they had the opportunity to build something special there with Leverkusen. So I don't expect Tah to be moving this summer if those are the sorts of conversations the players are having.

I'm not convinced Frenkie De Jong is ready yet for his big move.

I don't think it matters if we are signing him as someone with potential.
If we wait until he is ready, he will probably leave for PSG or Barcelona, not us.

What impresses me about both De Jong and De Ligt is the intelligence and composure for such young players. We should do everything we can to get them imo

I wonder if Ajax hates us or likes us?

On one hand they know all their top players are going to move on eventually so it may be nice to see them all succeed together in one place, on the other they're probably annoyed we keep coming for them.

I expect their fans are annoyed. Lots of "hands-off" noises being made on twatter.

I don't know if hate is the word, but they don't like it. But I think in a way they understand that on top of the club, the prospect of the premier league is hugely appealing. I expect them to prefer us to Man U or other clubs though, given how well we treated their former players. Not that they need publicity, but I guess they could value that if the players will leave, it's best they leave for a club that will indirectly raise Ajax status even more
