Don't forget the likes of Onomah, Pritchard and CCV will also be a season further down the line. Domestic cups would be perfect for them mixed in to a few more experienced heads.

Those behind the scenes have taken years to implement our development system and it has come at considerable cost too. It was always the plan, that along with the new stadium, we could achieve a sustainable squad able to repeatedly challenge the financially superior teams. You don't just drop that plan when it is clearly paying dividends. This was always a long term development and we need to stay focused on the fact it is clearly working.
And Winks. Njie will be like a new signing too with a preseason under his belt.

You never know but expecting the academy supply line to meet any more than half the squads needs is optimistic.

We need to buy in the areas where we have no one near ready coming through. I'm all for buying young and developing as opposed to spending big fees and wages on someone who might get injured or moan when rotated. In fact Wenger seemed to do better with this model than when he started spunKing tens of millions.

I don't want four players, not even three, just the ultra mobile dm and young cf who can bring something slightly different to the party. But certainly not on deadline fkin day.
IMO, Winks can fit that role. I agree on the center forward though.

We need a RCB replacement for Fazio as an understudy for Alderweireld.
We need a DM cover for Dier.
We need a genuine CF cover for Kane.

Carter-Vickers for me can be the RCB cover, no point buying for the sake of it and blocking the path of a highly rated young player.

I believe the DM needs to be a CB/DM player like Dier, due to the fact our system seems quite reliant on his ability to drop in between the CB's and form a back 3 as the fullbacks push on. Tricky one. Ball is playing that role for Rangers, started the season playing well at CB but has been used as DM more recently. The DM's linked appear more DM/CM type players, which for me, alters our system.

As for CF, I think there's two schools of thought here (basing this on January's links). Dembele as a more physical CF option to give us a Kane(esque) presence up top. Alternatively, there is Berahino, as a different type of CF option to give us a plan B. Berahino could also cover WF. Could there be room for both if we sold Chadli, as he's the one who I feel is at risk.

There are some who feel we need another AM option, someone to open up defences. This I feel is less critical, as Son should well go up a level with a full year under his belt, Njie will return from injury and likewise has had a year to settle (albeit without being able to play so much), plus Pritchard will be back. A full preseason for Son and Njie should help as they didn't have that last year.
Ball could be the one, although Scottish Championship to English PL is a big jump! Wanyama would be the one we would buy I suspect, given that that was how Poch played him at Southampton and he played as a CB a lot for Celtic.

Delighted with Trix's info that we'll be making around 3 additions in the summer. Really don't need to make mass changes. 3 real quality additions, 2 in attack, and one in midfield, and I'll be happy.

Anyone seen Yunis Malli play? We keep on getting linked with him in the same way we were with Wimmer.
Yeah.. he's a really good player.. the only downside is he can be really quiet (still works hard) in games & then do something special.. needs to be more consistent during games however could see him doing really well in PL... I wouldn't be surprised to see him join Dortmund or Liverpool

IMHO, this is what i will do if i am MoPo (after seeing him for 2-3 years)

1. Have a good look at Ball to cover DM
2. Decide on CCV if he is ready to play more roles in the first team.
3. Winks to play more games in the coming season and eventually be MoPo's eyes and voice in the field (in the future) as he is
intelligent and very knowledgeable about his football (for BB fans, kind of like Rajon Rondo for Doc Rivers when at Boston Celtics)
4. Assess Grant Ward capabilities/potential for the first team.
5. Who can be realistically to upgrade from the first team. The likes of Carroll, Mason and Chadli. Can they improve on this season?
6. Pritchard and Njie are like 2 new signings and hope they will have the full pre season.
7. Bring another striker in (Which i think MDII is the player, as we have yet to hear any news from overseas club of his pre-signing agreement).

So if MDII does indeed join, it will be like 3 new players in for the season and the likes of Onomah and Son HM to improve further.

Here comes my wish, on top of all that, bring in Batshuayi. And if Ball does not make the grade to cover Dier as DM (or firstly if Bentaleb's long term future future at the club are called into question), then have a good look at Dendocker, who i mentioned early in last summer transfer.

I've not seen anything of him really, great if you're right. Physical presence? Kante is small too but is pacey, mobile and strong in the tackle .

Although that may well happen, I do think that is total guesswork and I doubt even Poch, Levy and the recruitment team know exactly how many/what positions we will sign.

Why do so many trust the 'ITK's? they are pretty much always wrong from what I see. We would have 10 Berahinos on the bench if half of what they said were true.

As this is speciafically titled "wish-list", I would love us to get a Mahrez/Payet type that consistently scores goals, beats a player - basically makes something happen.
When I think of Spurs, I think of great, stylish football and a bit of magic (Hoddle, Ginola, Bale, etc).
I know we have Eriksen but he isn't very consistent. Lamela tries the special things but they don't copme off that often (only rabona and goal against Burnley at home last season spring to mind). Son tries to beat players and you can see he has got a few special goals in him and he maybe needs a bit more time.
Maybe Njie could be that player? I haven't seen enough of him to tell and hopefully a full preseason will help him.

I guess it's me being a bit greedy. We have a solid team who work hard (well, most of them, most of the time) and I'm probably just harking back to the days when we had a ropey team with one big, sexy fish in our small pond of a team.

It's not greedy - who doesn't want a bit of magic now and then.

As with all ITK the advice is to take with a pinch of salt. All I'm saying is a small handful of high class additions to the areas needed, not mass change, is the way to go in the summer. Ideally early on in preseason too, but then we know Levy...

When this thread first appeared I said we needed 3 players and nothing has changed my mind (even if we win the league).

A striker obviously. Then a CM who can allow Dier a rest (or to cover at CB or even to play with Dier at times). Then finally, another attacking player who can make a difference in the final third. I know we have plenty of attacking midfielders/WF's etc, but I'd question if enough of them are the required quality. Onamah needs a loan to play week in, week out imo.

It's Alli and Eriksen and then one other to fill the attacking three for me and there is a space for an upgrade imo, despite the relative merits of Lamela, Son, Chadli etc.

That's pretty much exactly what I think we need too. The midfielder to challenge/cover for Dier, I'd like it if he was able to playmake from deep a bit too. But it's a big ask to find a physical player with great positioning, who's imaginative on the ball..
