I think people are forgetting there is a wage structure to adhere to...

CL football isn't the be all end all in acquiring players.

Sofiane Boufal is the player i think i'd like most. Not sure if we've been linked with him (sorry haven't read previous pages).

Would just really like that Hazard/Coutinho-esque direct, dribbling creative midfielder to compliment Eriksen's more calm, playmaker creativity, with Alli in the middle and Lamela/Son as incredible options off the bench

Tottenham have held talks for Ousmane Dembélé
According to our colleagues at France Football, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have held meaningful talks with representatives in London last week over the possible transfer of Rennes attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembélé.

This is the second Premier League club today that have been concretely linked with the teenage sensation.

Ousmane Dembélé will almost certainly not play the last football of his career for Rennes this season and plans to be with the Brittany side for a complete Ligue 1 campaign in 2016/17.

However, that does not mean that he will not be sold this summer to a big European club, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich having already made contact too, before being loaned back to Rennes for a period of time.

Lamela on the bench?!
One of the best in the EPL in his position and you want him on the bench

I think this fits with our "philosophy", as would Embolo.

Rob Mackenzie, our Head of Player Identification, is a French league expert. Njie was his recommendation, and he was responsible for picking up Mahrez for Leicester from the French 2nd division

PLEASE.

Only seen him play a full game 4 times, but every time he's been sensational.

Watched him when he scored his hat-trick vs Nantes and it was probably the most stunned/shocked I've been by a single performance in that I didn't expect anything beforehand.

Sign all the Dembeles!

I think he's one player worth bending over backwards for. Levy would definitely need to be convinced though.

Possibly, but I think Poch would want him to come in straight away and start learning the philosophy. We've had some ITK that he won't loan out Winks as he doesn't want him developing bad habits so I don't see him wanting to leave Dembele in france for another year.

If Dembele wants to stay/Rennais want to keep him for another year then he'll probably just go somewhere like Chelsea/Bayern who'll happily pay 20m and leave him there.

Eriksson, alli, lamela, son, chadli, n'jie, Pritchard, winks, onomah, mason and dembele(the French one we are linked to). Granted, mason can play CM too, but something has got to give in the AM spots.

No idea why you've added Dembele in there, and Winks isn't an AM.

Apologies, I was referring to the Dembele who we are linked to. I thought it was clear with the context of the convo but evidently not! I've edited to make it clearer now...but see...this is the problem with having players with the same name, football forums will be a mess!

Regarding, winks, thanks for telling me that, as I haven't seen him play so I do rely on online reports. Just gathered from the reports of him being a smaller ball playing midfield and assumed he would play, at least initially, further forward in midfield.

I think it's very reasonable to think we could sell Chadli, Carroll (Who has played some in the AM3) and maybe even Pritchard if it meant we would have the funds to buy a talent like Dembele. I know, selling Pritchard sounds like heresy, but I don't think many would argue Dembele is the much bigger talent.

Winks is a Central Midfielder (As @THFCSPURS19 mentioned). Mason has played in a more advanced role at times this season, but it seems like Poch thinks highly of him and he offers nice depth in multiple positions.

As far as I am aware, Carroll's contract expires in the summer and since there has been little news of am extension, I would imagine he won't be here next year.

Like you, I would see chadli as being one of the first to go. He's been here long enough to show what he can do and personally I don't think he offers enough all around.

Granted I haven't seen anything of dembele, but given how highly rated Pritchard seems to be it would surprise me if he was to be sold when he seems so close to a premiership breakthrough. I would probably prefer to see a onomah or winks loan before selling Pritchard, but then again I don't get the insight of how they perform every day at training..

so u think that we need a first choice DM after the season Dier has had and that a backup striker is not a need?
Yes to both. Kane has played every league match this season and hasn't looked close to needing a rest. When is the backup striker ever going to play? we'd end up intruding on Alli's minutes and we already have son who's struggling for game time given kane and alli's partnership, which we should let blossom rather than bring in competition like Berahino. Dier is the sort of liability on the ball that you cant cover up in top level European football. In the first half vs United when we really struggled with the pressing unless the ball was on Dembele's foot, is the sort of stuff that will happen more regularly in the CL.
